Mara Wilson Admits To Feeling “Upset” By The Unprecedented Reaction Her Identification As Bisexual

Mara Wilson – famous for her roles in Mrs. DoubtfireMatilda, and Miracle On 34th Street – has a flourishing following on Twitter and often answers questions from fans on her page.

However, she did not expect the reaction she would get across the world for one reply to a simple question about her sexuality.

Early this year, Wilson, told fans she identified as bisexual after sharing a picture of herself, aged 18, in a gay club in the wake of the Orlando nightclub shootings.

She said the LGBTQ community always felt like home, “especially a few years later when I, uh, learned something about myself”.

When asked by one fan if she identified as bisexual, she responded by describing herself as a ‘2’ on the Kinsey scale. The Kinsey scale ranges from exclusively heterosexual (0) to exclusively homosexual (6).

Two relates to being predominately heterosexual but more than incidentally homosexual.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Wilson said

I was very upset for a few days. I was like, ‘How could I have done this?’ It was an impulsive decision. It was definitely an impulsive, emotional decision. I did not expect it to trend on Facebook.”

Her tweets made news internationally, shaping the narrative of her coming out story.

She admitted that if she could do it again, it would not be in that way.

Ideally, I was wishing it would be because I was dating Janelle Monáe or something.”

After the death of her mother from cancer while she was filming Matilda and her struggle with OCD and anxiety, Wilson stepped away from the public eye. She attended New York University and has spoken in the past about her battle with self-confidence and self-image, telling People in August:

I always knew there were girls much prettier than I was, and I knew that I was always competing with them. That has followed me my whole life.”

Wilson’s book, Where Am I Now? Stories of Girlhood and Accidental Fame, marks her first deliberate foray back into the public eye.

According To Science, Amber Heard Has The Most Beautiful Face In the World

Bisexual actress, Amber Heard is the most beautiful woman in the world, according to facial mapping.

Her face was found to be 91.85% accurate to the Greek Golden Ratio of Beauty Phi – which for thousands of years was thought to hold the secret formula of perfection.

Using computer mapping technology, Heard – who is currently going through a messy divorce with Johnny Depp – was tested with the latest facial mapping techniques by Harley Street surgeon Dr Julian De Silva – who found her features to be the closest to the Golden Ratio of Beauty.

The study also found that Kim Kardashian had perfect eyebrows, Scarlett Johansson came out on top for her eyes, Rihanna’s face shape was deemed the most beautiful, while Emily Ratajkowski’s lips and Kate Moss’s forehead were also praised.

Matilda Star Mara Wilson Opens Up About Her Sexuality In Wake Of Orlando Massacre.

In wake of the tragic mass shooting at a gay club in Orlando, Florida, former child actress Mara Wilson – best known as the childhood star of Roald Dahl adaptation Matilda, and Mrs. Doubtfire – has opened up about her own sexuality.

Sharing a photo of her younger self, she said:

Me at a gay club when I was eighteen. I feel embarrassed looking at it now… being a “straight girl” where I clearly didn’t belong, but I will say, I felt so welcomed.

I have never had a better experience at a club than I did then. Great music and people. And one of my friends met his partner that night!”

She continued:

But the LGBTQ community has always felt like home, especially a few years later when I, uh, learned something about myself.

I *used* to identify as mostly straight. I’ve embraced the Bi/Queer label lately.”

Wilson was soon inundated with messages of support from her fans,

She added:

Your support is much appreciated. I will say, though, I’m still gonna be pretty private about my relationships, as I always have been.’

Wilson is often noted as an example of a well-adjusted former child star, and has spoken about LGBT issues and sexual health in the past.

Last year she tore into the film ‘Stonewall’ for its central white, gay, male characters and supposed lack of diversity.

Has anyone told [director] Roland Emmerich that Stonewall wasn’t one of the parties at his house exclusively for young, fit, white, gay men.

Go ahead and have your parties, but don’t try to alter history.

It’s just sad… Emmerich has said it was the studios that made him change it, buuuuut somehow I’m not buying it.”

Evan Rachel Wood Looks To Shatter The Misconceptions About Bisexuality With Her Coming Out Story

Evan Rachel Wood made a name for herself in Thirteen and The Wrestler, and the cult TV shows like True Blood. But recently the openly bisexual actress shared her thoughts on being bisexual and Pride month.

There are so many grey areas in this world, especially when it comes to gender roles, especially when it comes to sexuality.”

In a self published YouTube post, she discusses some alarming statistics regarding bisexuals, particularly the large percentage of people who have contemplated suicide, experienced abusive relationships and/or struggle with depression and addiction.

Wood goes on to describe the negative reaction she faced the first time she kissed a girl as a kid, and the internalized biphobia she also faced throughout her adolescence.

Like a frighteningly large number of bisexual women, she considered suicide while struggling to understand her sexuality.

She describes her struggle with her sexuality frankly and openly. Although she seems much more at ease with herself as an adult, Wood positions herself as a “flare” for the bisexual community — a visible representation, something that bisexuals need.

Top 11 Lesbians And Bisexual Women In Hollywood Right Now

There has been a huge shift in the dynamics of Hollywood lately. Where once it was quite taboo to come out of the closet, now there are many men and women who are embracing their sexuality and being honest with their fans. It’s nice to see how successful and happy they are.

Read on to find the top 11 (out) lesbians and bisexual women who are active in Hollywood. These women might not represent the rest of us and our “real world problems”, but they have their own set of problems associated with coming out.

11. Amber Heard

Amber Heard 02

Amber Heard is a beautiful young woman from Texas who rose to fame with such movies as Zombieland, Pineapple Express, and The Rum Diary. Contrary to some statements that have been publicized, Amber herself has said that she is not “out” – because she was never “in”. She also adds that she is “totally open” to love, and doesn’t want to be labeled one way or another. She’s just a woman trying to make it in Hollywood, and she doesn’t want people to focus on whether she’s with a man or a woman.

10. Clementine Ford

Clementine Ford 02

Clementine Ford is the daughter of Cybill Shepherd, both in real life as well as in The L Word. Their on-screen chemistry shows just how much the two have in common; they work so well together! But she admitted she hated growing up with a famous mother: “It was horrible. I had friends in high school who wanted to have sex with my mother. I’m not going to blame her for being beautiful – but it’s still gross.” Clementine herself is an out bisexual woman.

9. Anna Paquin

I’ll admit that I’ve had a big fat crush on Anna Paquin since 2000, when she played in X-Men. There was a brief period of time that I fell out of my crush with her, but it was recently reinvigorated with her response to body shamers. She stands up strong for the LGBT+ community and is herself a proud bisexual woman.

8. Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan

One of the most prominent child stars of my generation, Lindsay Lohan has had her fair share of struggles with fame, family, and addiction, but her relationship with the DJ Samantha Ronson gained her a fair share of publicity on its own. She has stated that she is not exclusively a lesbian, but she embraces her bisexuality and doesn’t let the negativity bring her down.

7. Ruby Rose

ruby rose

Ruby Rose has sort of come crashing onto the scene lately after her role as Stella on Orange is the New Black. The truth is, she’s been active for much longer than that, but it took the wide-reaching audience of OITNB to catapult her into the sights of a bunch of women who instantly began questioning whether they were really straight after all. She is an androgynous lesbian who identifies as “gender fluid”, and caused gender fluidity to be much more of a mainstream discussion than it ever was before.

6. Tila Tequila

There are likely to be many people against Tila Tequila being on this list, because she used her bisexuality to fuel the fame that was fleeting after she stopped doing nude photoshoots. However, she has recently come out as not bisexual, but rather a lesbian, and in some ways she is inspirational as a testament of what a woman can accomplish. She owns several businesses, has been featured in a number of TV shows, and even featured in an all-female sex tape. And yes, she’s a lesbian.

5. Kristanna Loken

Kristanna Loken

Kristanna Loken is a model-turned-actress who burst her way into the lesbian limelight with her role on The L Word, playing Shane’s brief love interest, Paige. She has also been in a myriad of other movies and says she loves when people recognize her from her earlier works – but her role in Terminator 3 certainly catapulted her out of “anonymity”. She was quoted as saying “If the person with whom I connect happens to be a female, that’s just the way it is. That’s what makes my wheels turn.” This cements her position as a proud bisexual actress, paving the way for those who may be struggling to come out.

4. Michelle Rodriguez

Michelle Rodriguez 99

Most lesbians and bisexual women see Michelle Rodriguez as one of the hottest women to pine over in Hollywood. She’s been a prominent action star, rising to fame with the Fast & Furious franchise, but she has also starred in such movies as Turbo and Avatar – although she is typically cast as the more handy type. Some sources say that she is a lesbian, but she prefers to keep her options open. “I’ve gone both ways. I do as I please. I am too fucking curious to sit here and not try when I can. Men are intriguing. So are chicks.” Well, Michelle, that’s a solid way to look at it.

3. Evan Rachel Wood

Evan-Rachel-Wood-2

Evan Rachel Wood is another actress that I’ve had a bit of a crush on for a long time. In 2011, she came out as bisexual in one of the simplest ways she could: “I’m for anything. Meet a nice guy, meet a nice girl.” This has proven to be one of the easiest ways to get Hollywood to stay off your back about who you’re seeing, as we’ve seen from many other actresses – and although we have not uncovered any images of Evan with a woman, I’m certain they’re out there somewhere.

2. Chely Wright

Chely Wright

Unless you’re a fan of American country music (or a close follower of celebrities coming out), you likely haven’t heard of Chely Wright. She was a huge name on the country music scene during the 90s, and she was one of the first country singers to come out publicly as being gay.  She has spoken up for the gay community on many occasions, including her coming out speech: “I hear the word tolerance – that some people are trying to teach people to be tolerant of gays. I’m not satisfied with that word. I am gay, and I am not seeking to be ‘tolerated’.” Way to go Chely!

1. Ellen Page

ellen-page-436

Ellen Page has been a celebrity crush of mine since I first saw her in Hard Candy. She’s gorgeous, intelligent, and just a bit awkward, which of course had lesbians all over the world thinking that she was playing for our team, right? Well, she did end up coming out publicly in 2014, although she had been out of the closet to friends and family for much longer. She has been in a number of high-profile roles, where she usually plays a witty, lovable characters.

The actress, who recently underwent surgery to remove her ovaries and fallopian tubes, also revealed her excitement to turn 50.

They are not easy surgeries. The ovaries are an easy surgery, but the hormone changes – interesting. Both of the women in my family, my mother and my grandmother started dying in their 40s. I’m 40. I can’t wait to hit 50 and know I made it.”

Early in her career, Angelina not only played lesbian and bisexual roles, she was also open about the fact that she is bisexual and has had relationships with both men and women.

Angelina Jolie Pitt 07

She has often spoken openly and honestly about her feelings for women, despite the fears that would keep some celebrities in the closet, she has always won big awards and big movie roles.

I’ve never hidden my bisexuality. But since I’ve been with Brad, there’s no longer a place for that.”

Margaret Cho Has The Perfect Method For Tackling Online Homophobic Abuse

The bisexual actress, comic, and LGBT activist, Margaret Cho – who has nearly 400,000 followers on Facebook – has released an online statement regarding the amount of online abuse she gets

In a Facebook post, Cho described the disturbing encounters she has been involved in – and why people should take trolling more seriously.

I’ve experienced numerous breaches of security, a couple of very troubling face to face interactions and so much online trolling I can’t help but believe it’s all somehow connected.”

However, rather than shy away from social media, Cho advises those subject to homophobic abuse to use modern technology to their advantage.

I want everyone in the reach of my voice to keep their phones charged, film everything, screenshot and report ALL offensive people and ALL threats on social media.”

Margaret Cho 01

She also warned her followers of the danger trolls pose – and how people should take any threats or abuse they receive seriously.

BUT UNDERSTAND ‘Haters’ are potential killers. We’ve seen this countless times now. They say it on social media, then they go DO IT. We’ve got to be vigilant and protect ourselves. Stay alive. I need you all here with me. I love you.”

Cho said although the abuse sometimes upsets her, she has developed a unique way of getting her own back.

The actress described of she takes a screenshot of offensive messages she receives and forwards them to the troll’s employers, spouses or loved ones.

Ask their employers if they are aware of this person’s activity online and if they condone this type of behaviour. That usually shuts EVERYTHING DOWN. And it’s pretty gratifying. Bully the bullies with class and grace. It’s the BEST.”
