The Cara Delevingne has previously avoided discussing her relationships, but in an interview with Vogue, she opened up about struggling with her sexuality while growing up.

However, while the article carried a positive message, it contained the line:

Her parents seem to think girls are just a phase for Cara, and they may be correct.”

The magazine is now the subject of a petition which calls for an apology.

The author of the petition ulie Rodriguez writes;

As a bisexual woman myself, I’ve experienced hurtful comments like this many times. People are quick to assume queer women’s identities are a ‘phase’ and to refuse to recognise the important relationships in their lives — an attitude which can cause depression, result in families rejecting their daughters and even put young women at risk of suicide.

Vogue should have taken this opportunity to combat negative stereotypes, not reinforce them. We should be applauding Cara for coming out as queer, and being open about her relationships with men and women.”

Delevingne is considered the ‘it’ girl of our time. She appears in ad campaigns, music videos, and movies. The tabloid’s love her, we love her and fans love her. And the fact that she’s in a relationship with a woman and proud is great.
