Ellen DeGeneres playfully Pokes fun at Sarah Paulson’s relationship with Holland Taylor

Ellen DeGeneres poked fun at Sarah Paulson and her relationship with Holland Taylor when she appeared on her show via Zoom.

Paulson had been talking about her hectic work schedule, saying she was filming American Crime Story in LA before shooting the second series of Netlflix’s Ratched

DeGeneres joked: “You’re rarely home. No wonder your relationship works. You never see one another.”

Sarah also discussed her randy rescue dog Winnie, who she said loves to constantly hump her arm. While she finds it funny, she said Holland is ‘disgusted.’

During a conversation about Paulson‘s dog, Winnie, a photo of Pennywise from the IT film flashing up and scared the actress leading her to ask, “How do you press Leave Meeting? I’m leaving. This is horrible!”

Ruby Rose reveals her queer icons

After deleting her Twitter account following backlash over her casting as BatwomanRuby Rose has shared a video in which she opens up about her queer icons, including Angelina Jolie and Ellen DeGeneres.

In the clip, Rose says:

“So, growing up, there wasn’t as many gay, queer, lesbian icons are there are today. And I’m so glad there are so many more.”

She goes on to discuss the actress Angelina Jolie:

“When Angelina Jolie came out as bisexual. That was a great one, I was so stoked.”

Rose went on to discuss an incident where Jolie reportedly said she was “most likely to sleep with my female fans,” after she questioned by reporters when she won an award for being the “most beautiful” person alive.

“I just loved the way she said it, like it was nothing. And, of course it was something to me, and it was something to a lot of people. But for her it was just a throwaway comment.”

On Lennox she explain how her the singer was the “showed me what androgyny was and how to be unapologetic about the way you look, the way you act, and the way you’re just yourself.”

“The other thing I love about Annie Lennox is that she has not stopped fighting for LGBT rights and trying to find cures for AIDS, and different foundations and she’s very involved in the community.”

Of DeGeneres she gushed,

“Ellen is amazing. Watching her over the many years that I’ve been a huge fan and then getting to be on her show was one of the highlights of my life.”

Speaking of LGBTQ rights, Rose said,

“I wouldn’t want to stand here and say that [LGBT+] kids being born now or being born five, 10 years ago, are not going to encounter a struggle. I don’t think that [discrimination] is going to be erased entirely in the next five years, 10 years or 20 years. I think we’re on the right path and I think it’s amazing and I feel blessed because I haven’t been through what the people before me went through, and I know the people after me will say the same thing. It’s just going to keep being a work in progress.”

Rose also mentioned other queer icons that have inspired her including David Bowie, Boy George, and Madonna.

After news broke that she had been cast as Batwoman, the announcement was met with criticism with some social media users complaining about the choice.

Of her critics and her decision to quit Twitter, Rose said

“I wish we would all support each other and our journeys. When women and when minorities join forces we are unstoppable.. when we tear each other down it’s much more hurtful than from any group. But hey I love a challenge x.”

She continued:

“I just wish women and the LGBT community supported each other more. (…) My wish was we were all a little kinder and more supportive of each other. Sending everyone my love and gratitude, it’s been a rollercoaster of a year, this month especially.

I am looking forward to getting more than 4 hours of sleep and to break from Twitter to focus all my energy on my next 2 projects.

If you need me, I’ll be on my Bat Phone.”

Samira Wiley Touts Ellen as the ‘Lord of the Lesbians’

Samira Wiley was on The Ellen Degeneres Show for the first time.

However, Wiley revealed that she’d had a previous encounter with the host.

“I met you, like, really briefly one time. I know you don’t remember it because you’re Ellen, but it meant a lot to me because you’re lord of the lesbians.”

When DeGeneres pressed her as to where they’d crossed paths, Wiley ― who recently celebrated her one-year wedding anniversary with wife Lauren Morelli at Disneyland ― quipped,

“Probably at a lesbian event. I go to those sometimes. I see you at those.”

Later in the interview, Wiley touched on the cultural relevance of The Handmaid’s Tale, which returns for its second season this April.

Noting that the show’s iconic red costumes have been used in women’s rights demonstrations across the country, Wiley said,

“You see how much it permeates the culture that we’re living in right now. It’s everywhere.”

Ellen DeGeneres Moved To Tears By Wife Portia De Rossi’s Birthday Gift

Ellen DeGeneres has just celebrated her 60th birthday in a special episode of her hit television show and was moved to tears by a special gift from wife Portia de Rossi.

Talk show host, Ellen DeGeneres, turned 60 last Friday, and received plenty of birthday wishes.

But it was a thoughtful present from wife Portia de Rossi that moved DeGeneres to tears.

In a surprise appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that aired Thursday, de Rossi presented her wife with the gift to end all gifts.

“It’s your 60th birthday, and this gift had to be really special and it had to represent who you are and what you really care about. So, I combined that with the fact that literally guys, for like the last two years, Ellen has said to me, ‘I feel like I’m not doing enough.’ Every day, almost. So, I put all that together and I got you this gift.”

De Rossi then played a recorded birthday message that highlighted DeGeneres’ hero, Dian Fossey, an American scientist who studied gorillas in Africa. Fossey founded the Karisoke Research Center in Rwanda to observe and protect mountain gorillas.

Though she was murdered in 1985, the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund continues her work. And now, thanks to de Rossi, the fund will have an Ellen DeGeneres Campus.

“So, for your birthday, Ellen, I am bringing you and your hero Dian together by building the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. Ellen, you will carry on Dian’s legacy by giving them a permanent home in Rwanda. Now, you will join Dian as a protector and champion of these amazing animals, the mountain gorillas,” de Rossi added. “Happy birthday.”

Is anyone else getting misty-eyed, or is that just us?

Megan Mullally Had No Idea Ellen DeGeneres’ Roommates Were Her Girlfriends

Apparently, Megan Mullally had no idea Ellen DeGeneres’ roommates were her girlfriends.

Will & Grace star Megan Mullally and Ellen DeGeneres have been friends for 30 long years.

While you might think three decades is enough time to learn everything there is to know about someone, these two proved that people are always filled with surprises.

Appearing on the Ellen DeGeneres show, Mullally revealed that she naively thought that DeGeneres just had “lots of lovely roommates”, and would often come to visit from her house the street over in Los Angeles.

“I remember thinking, ‘Oh, that’s nice, Ellen has this lovely roommate … they really seem like they get along great,’ And then, as the years went on, [she] had a lot of really lovely roommates, and I thought, ‘Ellen just gets along so well with people. People are just drawn to her like a magnet.’”

It appears that DeGeneres and her girlfriends would have a lot of laughs at the actor’s expense, who eventually cottoned on.

“I remember you’d be, like, cracking up,” she told DeGeneres, “and I’d be like, ‘Why are they laughing at me?’”

“Really, you didn’t realize I was gay?” DeGeneres asked Mullally.

“I did not, no,” the actress replied.

Ellen DeGeneres Fires Back At Eric Trump For ‘Deep State’ Tweet

Ellen DeGeneres made a rare foray into politics this week to take the president’s son down a notch.

During her show, DeGeneres took time out to responded to comments made by Eric Trump on Twitter.

“If you know me at all, you know I don’t pay attention to politics. But unfortunately, politics pay attention to me.”

The host was referring to her unexpected appearance in a recent tweet from Trump Jnr.

https://twitter.com/EricTrump/status/948378088899072000

Trump used the fact that Twitter suggested he follow her, along with former President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, as evidence of the so-called “Deep State.”

Addressing Trump through her monologue, DeGeneres explained to her audience that the “Deep State” is supposed to be a secret group trying to “undermine” the president, she added, “which is ridiculous, because no one has undermined Donald Trump more than Donald Trump.”

“Eric, I just want to say I’m honored that you think I’m powerful enough to be part of a government conspiracy.”

However, she added that even if she wanted to be part of the mission, she is just too busy.

“I’ve got my gay agenda meetings on Mondays, on Wednesday Beyoncé and I host an Illuminati brunch, and then Portia and I on the weekends are desperately trying to have a baby.”

DeGeneres also had some more logical explanations for why Twitter suggested Eric Trump follow her, namely that both of his sisters, Ivanka and Tiffany Trump, already follow her on the platform.

Ellen: Trump Is Not Welcome On My Show Because He’s Dangerous To Gay People

As we al know, Ellen DeGeneres regularly hosted President Obama and his wife Michelle on her show during their time in office.

She has even hosted figures from across party lines – including John McCain, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.

But TV host has admitted there is one guest who will never be welcome on her show – the current President of the United States, Donald Trump.

This week, Megyn Kelly sat down with DeGeneres to discuss her new NBC News show.

Ellen asked Kelly if she would ever invite President Donald Trump on her show.

“Definitely,” Kelly responded. “I mean, I would not say no to the sitting president of the United States.”

“Really?” Ellen responded, a bit surprised.

“Absolutely not. Would you?” Kelly asked.

“Yeah,” DeGeneres said, without a second thought, to huge cheers and applause. “I would not have him on the show.”

DeGeneres continued;

He is who he is and he gets enough attention and he has his Twitter account and he has ways to get his message across. There’s nothing I’m going to say to him that’s going to change him and I don’t want to give him a platform, because it just validates him.

And for me to have someone on the show, I have to at least admire them in some way. And I can’t have someone that I feel is not only dangerous – for the country, and for me personally as a gay woman – but to the world. He’s dividing all of us. I just don’t want him on the show.”

Watch Sarah Paulson Get Pranked Big Time By Ellen DeGeneres

Actress Sarah Paulson has delivered plenty of scares on American Horror Story, but when she visited Ellen DeGeneres, this week it was her turn to get frightened.

While chatting with DeGeneres, the actress talked about how series co-creator Ryan Murphy based some of the scary elements of Season 7, Cult, on Paulson’s real-life fears, one of those being clowns.

Oh, but Ellen was already prepared.

On the show, the host prank-scared Paulson not once, not twice, but three times, with a final scary clown popping out and sending the actress hiding under the coffee table.

Ellen DeGeneres Recalls Her Decision To Come Out

It’s been 20 years since Ellen DeGeneres announced she was gay on national television.

However, in a recent interview with TIME magazine, the now hugely successful TV host, reflected on her coming out, and how a string of homophobic performers nearly ended her career.

DeGeneres told the magazine in a short video clip celebrating her contributions as a woman;

I was warned by my publicist at the time — everybody said, ‘We could destroy this whole show.’ But, you know, it’s my life.”

DeGeneres explained that she wasn’t trying to be political in any way when she decided to share the news.

I wasn’t trying to be an activist. When I did, it just made sense that the character would come out, and it was the greatest thing that happened because it sent me on a different trajectory, and here I am now and there’s no secrets. I’m not ashamed of anything.”

She also admitted that even before coming out, she had a hard time getting accepted in the male-dominated world of stand-up comedy.

DeGeneres also described a moment where she didn’t think she would ever return to comedy;

There was a night in particular that there were two guys on before me and their stuff was very homophobic – slamming women in every kind of way.

And no one knew that I was gay necessarily, it was just a very angry testosterone-filled crowd by the time I got on stage. The entire front row of guys got up and turned their chairs around and faced the audience.

That was a night that I thought I would never do comedy again. And I don’t know where those guys are now, but they didn’t get the Medal of Freedom.”

Last year, DeGeneres received the Medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama in an emotional ceremony for her bravery and contributions to the community.

Kristen Stewart isn’t here for sexist fashion rules at cannes

Talking to The Hollywood Reporter; Stewart said

There’s definitely a distinct dress code, right? People get very upset at you if you don’t wear heels or something.”

They do indeed. In 2015, Cannes faced backlash after women were reportedly barred from a red carpet premiere — for Todd Hayes’s pro-LGBTQ romance Carol, no less — because they were wearing flat shoes.

But I feel like you can’t ask people that any more. It’s just kind of a given. If you’re not asking guys to wear heels and a dress, you cannot ask me either.”

Gossipmongers say Ellen DeGeneres is ‘miserable’ with Portia de Rossi

Amid reports that Ellen DeGeneres and her wife of nearly 9 years have been observed in embarrassing fights on the set of her show, caught looking glum at dinners out on the town in addition to their decision to sell their magnificent weekend getaway mansion in Santa Barbara, tongues are wagging in Hollywood that a breakup is looming for the hot power couple. (LGBTQ Nation )

A source said

They’ve been trying really hard to keep their marriage together, but it seems like time is running out. They’re just always at each other’s throats.

Ellen wants to plan an elaborate anniversary and Portia just wants her to concentrate on fixing their marriage,” the insider told the publication.

She feels like Ellen puts a Band-Aid on their problems.”

The gossip comes after $58.6m of the couple’s assets were put up for sale, including a home in Santa Barbara, California, which Ellen had previously described as her “forever” home.

They are also selling a luxury condo in Beverley Hills, which they bought in 2014.

Grey’s Anatomy actress Jessica Capshaw says playing a lesbian has changed her life

Grey’s Anatomy actress Jessica Capshaw, who is Arizona on the show, has opened up about how playing a lesbian has changed her life.

She told Yahoo Style.

I never would have imagined that I would be able to play a character that would feel like it does so much good.”

She added, it could also provide a crucial tool in teaching family members or friends about homosexuality.

If it’s someone watching it who has someone in their life who is gay, and they might have not understood it before … all of a sudden they have another person or another thing to point to and say: ‘Oh, that’s a different context.’

Being able to play a lesbian as a series regular on television has been enormously rewarding.”

Capshaw, who has also appeared on The L Word and Bones, proudly recalled an example of how representation can help how people see the LGBT community.

My daughter goes to preschool, and the preschool has all kinds of families. “And I guess one of the kids said: ‘You have to have a mom and a dad to have a baby.’ And my daughter said: ‘No. No, you don’t.’ And this was all overheard and told to me later. She said, in a very kind and patient way to that child: ‘There can be a mom and a mom and a dad and a mom and there can be a dad and a dad.’”

Ellen DeGeneres Says Donald Trump Is Not Welcome On Show

Ellen DeGeneres will not be inviting Donald Trump to her talk show.

The TV host shared her feelings about the current President of the United States with Today‘s Matt Lauer on Friday.

As for why she will not interview Trump: ‘Because I’m not going to change his mind.’

DeGeneres came out as gay 20 years ago and is active in social causes including UNICEF, breast cancer and PETA.

She won a People’s Choice Award in 2016 for her humanitarian work.

We need to look at someone else who looks different than us and believes in something that we don’t believe in and still accept them and still let them have their rights.”

DeGeneres said she had met Trump in the early days of her Emmy-winning talk show as they filmed a bit with him as the host of Celebrity Apprentice. She even gave him baby gifts in an episode from 2006.

DeGeneres has had other notable political figures on her show in the past including President Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Bernie Sanders.

In the interview with Today, DeGeneres also reflected on her ground-breaking, yet difficult, decision to come out of the closet.

There were death threats and that was negative. The biggest thing was I lost my career. For three years I could not work, was not offered one thing. I was running out of money, and I didn’t know if I was going to work again. And then I just thought I gotta do something about this. It taught me compassion. It taught me that I was strong enough to start all over again, and it was the greatest thing that ever happened to me.”

Daily Juice: New Whitney Houston Documentary Claims She Was Bisexual

A new documentary about Whitney Houston has alleged the late singer was bisexual (Music News)

Whitney: Can I Be Me premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, and saw the music legend’s nearest and dearest open up about their relationships with her.

Among the film’s contributors was Whitney’s best friend and assistant Robyn Crawford, who is alleged to have had an intimate relationship with the I Will Always Love You star.

The singer’s former stylist Ellin Lavar addresses Whitney’s sexuality in the film, saying:

I don’t think she was gay, I think she was bisexual. Robyn provided a safe place for her… in that Whitney found safety and solace.”

Basic Instinct director Paul Verhoeven is working on a new film called the Blessed Virgin which will be about a lesbian nun with miraculous powers who falls in love with another sister.

The producers said it is based on the life of 17th-century Italian nun Benedetta Carlini, who caused a sensation when she claimed to see visions of Jesus Christ.

Verhoeven will present the project at the Cannes film festival next month, production company SBS International told AFP.

The new film, adapted from “Immodest Acts — The Life of a lesbian Nun in Renaissance Italy” by the American historian Judith Brown, will star Belgian actress Virginie Efira.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of coming out on her sitcom Ellen, Ellen DeGeneres will air a reunion with several of the stars who helped bring the episode to life.

The hour-long anniversary special that will air on her talk show this week pays tribute to The Puppy Episode, in which DeGeneres’s character Ellen Morgan came out and became the first-ever gay or lesbian lead character on television.

In a sneak peek at the reunion show, Laura Dern, who played DeGeneres’s love interest in the episode, articulated lovingly about being there for that piece of LGBT history. (Advocate)

And finally, this amazing tweet about coming out proves mothers are always right. Jareliz Diaz – now 20 – tweeted back in 2013 that her mother had asked if she was a lesbian because she had appreciated the female form.

But much to the surprise of her followers, four years later, on 22 April 2017, she added that her mum had been right all along. (Pink News)

Ellen DeGeneres Will Celebrate 20th Anniversary Of Landmark Coming Out Episode With Cast Reunion

Ellen DeGeneres will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of her coming out on the Ellen Show with a reunion with the cast (including guest star Oprah and Laura Dern).

The hour-long episode will air Friday, April 28 with series regulars Laura Dern, Joely Fisher, Clea Lewis and David Anthony Higgins all joining Ellen to reminisce and recount how important the moment was and still is.

In the episode, titled, The Puppy Episode, Ellen’s onscreen persona leaned across an airport PA system and announced to the world, “I’m gay.”

It is worth remembering that this moment happened just a couple weeks after DeGeneres herself came out publicly in real life. This of course happened on the historic Time magazine cover that showcased a simple yet powerful headline, “Yep, I’m Gay,” on April 14, 1997.

Ellen’s courageous decision to live openly and honestly – both on- and off-screen – was truly historic.

Make sure to tune in for the episode!

She also enlisted several celebrity friends to help pay tribute too.

Wife Portia, Neil Patrick Harris, Laverne Cox, Jonathan Groff and Evan Rachel Wood are just a few of the LGBTQ stars to thank the former president for his administration’s acknowledgement of the queer community .

What Your Queer Girl Celebrity Crush Says About You

Queer female celebrities have always been such an integral part of our queer culture. Whether the celeb in question actually identifies as lesbian, bisexual, or pansexual, or there’s just a lot of speculation about their sexuality, one thing’s for certain: We absolutely love them.

We’ve taken the time to identify 20 of the most famous out queer female celebrities, with a handy little guide to explain what your crush on that particular woman really means.

Ready? Let’s go! In alphabetical order…

Amber Heard

Amber Heard 02

Your crush on “no labels” actress Amber Heard says that you’re more about the person than how they label themselves – and that’s a great feeling. In fact, Amber made sure to note all the way back in 2011 that she doesn’t really label herself one way or the other – “it’s the person who matters.” Your crush on her says that you care about a person for the person they are, rather than the person they love.

Angelina Jolie

You’re into the classical beauty – strong, yet feminine features, with all the right curves and a seriously fierce pout. Between beauty, strength, and inclusivity, there is no contest – all are equally important when it comes to winning your affections. Besides – with a resume like hers, how could you possibly say no?

Anna Paquin

anna-paquin-01

Your crush on Anna Paquin says that your sexuality is far from the most important (or interesting) thing about you – and in fact, you prefer to keep your personal life as personal as possible, unless opening up will help someone else come to terms with who they are. You love the supernatural world and, TBH, you’d probably rather be a creature from another reality anyway. And, I mean, why wouldn’t you?

Caitlyn Jenner

Caitlyn Jenner 01

While many chose to label Caitlyn Jenner’s daring coming-out story as a publicity stunt, you instead chose to accept that it takes a lot of courage to come out later in life, and relentlessly supported her transition anyway. Go you for looking past the public opinion and realizing that all people deserve respect – even if they were once on a reality TV show.

Cameron Diaz

978824-beyondmytouch89-cameron-diaz-high-quality-wallpaper-978824

While it was widely reported that Cameron Diaz came out as bisexual, the fact of the matter is that she didn’t – so your crush on her might confirm that you tend to veer towards straight girls. (Sorry!) Not that there’s anything wrong with admiring someone you wouldn’t actually get with, of course, so this might mean that you prefer friendships over intimate relationships – and that is A-OK with us.

Cara Delevingne

2d274908073397-eyebrow-evolution-cara_delevingne-today-150325_ebeee932967a51e462b045019d855b87-today-inline-large

You’re into all that snark and sarcasm that we’ve come to know Cara for, but it’s more than just that – she manages to be entirely herself without compromising her exquisite beauty. Plus, she’s friends with practically everyone in Hollywood, so you might even be interested in the party scene – but, to be clear, that’s just a super small portion of who you really are.

Demi Moore

Your crush on the gorgeous Demi Moore proves that age is nothing but a number – and if you got that hot cougar thing working for you, well, that’s even better. Although her marriage with Ashton has already fallen apart, rumor has it that she’s just as into women as she is in men – so, in theory, her next boo could be a young, beautiful woman. (Please let this one be true!)

Drew Barrymore

Drew Barrymore 01

While Drew has spent most of her life in the spotlight, it came as a shock to many when she came out as bisexual – something that hasn’t put the tiniest hitch in her career. Your crush on her reveals that labels don’t really matter to you, and it doesn’t matter what other people think. Even though she has never sought to make herself a “sex symbol,” per se, she’s still definitely sexy to you!

Ellen DeGeneres

Ellen Degeneres Slams Mississippi’s

Your love for this Ellen means that you are down to be a pioneer, even if being a pioneer isn’t the easiest thing to do. Since Ellen came out way back when it wasn’t socially acceptable to do so, she’s put up with more than her fair share of haters in that time – but, thankfully, her overwhelming kindness and confidence has prevailed. I don’t think her relationship with Portia is going anywhere, though, so this crush isn’t going to lead anywhere in the foreseeable future.

Ellen Page

ellen-page-01

Ellen Page is one of the quirkiest actresses on our list, and while she doesn’t often play LGBT characters on the screen, she makes a point to support the LGBT community wherever she can. Your crush on her says that activism is super important to you, as is witty humor – and, of course, that makes her the perfect catch.

Evan Rachel Wood

Evan-Rachel-Wood-2

Even though many people have accused Evan of coming out for the attention, she chooses to educate, rather than hate on the uninformed masses. In 2013, she told AfterEllen,

So I don’t get angry or try to fight hate with hate; I just try to educate.” Your crush on her says that you understand that ignorance isn’t usually a choice, and you’d rather be with someone who is accepting of everyone – even those they don’t really understand.

Kesha

Kesha represents strength through adversity, as we all know the highly-visible ordeal she’s been going through these days. While some choose to label her as someone crying out for attention, your support of her proves that we should all be taken seriously – even if we happen to be covered in glitter. The world needs more glitter anyway, guys.

Lea DeLaria

Lea DeLaria - Credit Sophy Holland 2

Lea DeLaria might not be the traditional image of beauty that we see in the world, but your crush on her proves that it’s what’s inside that counts – especially when what’s inside is a whole bunch of sassiness, wrapped in activism, with a bit of dapper to hold it all together. You know that someone’s personality is what makes them so great, and you’re all about being your own witty, vulgar person, even if it makes you a pariah.

Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan

Now, LiLo fans are a little more into the party scene than the Cara fans, but can you blame them? Lindsay had a pretty rough childhood in the spotlight, like Miley, and she had to take some time for herself to get her head back on straight. Your crush on her means that you understand when your romantic interest makes some bad choices – it doesn’t mean she’s a bad person.

Megan Fox

Megan Fox has garnered some negative attention in saying that she, as a bisexual woman, won’t sleep with other bisexual women. However, you realize that it’s powerful to know exactly who you are and exactly what you want – and if your dream girl can do so while looking absolutely fabulous, even better.

Michelle Rodriguez

Michelle Rodriguez 99

Action is important to you – all kinds of action, both the kind fueled by love and the kind that takes place inside super fast cars or alongside Danny Trejo. She makes no excuses for who she is, and she won’t let anyone else define her – exactly what you like in a woman!

Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus

You’re really into a woman who does her own thing, even if it took her a while to be comfortable in her own skin. You want someone who is unapologetic about who she is, even if that means she doesn’t always fit in with the crowd. The woman of your dreams would never put herself back into hiding just to make other people comfortable – what’s the point in that?

Rachel Maddow

show_about_rachelmaddow

Your crush on political correspondent Rachel Maddow shows that you want a woman who is well-informed and also just a bit sarcastic. Although many disapprove of the way she has spoken about the U.S. President Elect Donald Trump, you want a woman who speaks her mind in any situation – even if it doesn’t win her any popularity. Her witty humor turns you on, and you need a woman who can do the same in your life.

Ruby Rose

ruby_Rose_feature

Your crush on Ruby Rose tells us that you want someone flexible – a woman who can be either the studliest stud or the most feminine femme, all while looking absolutely fabulous. You don’t even care how much attention she’s getting from straight girls and lesbians alike – she’s bae and that’s all there is to it!

Samira Wiley

samira_wiley_headshot_h_2016

Your love for Samira tells us that you are all about using your powers for good. As a Julliard graduate, she chose to forego the more traditional path to perfection and instead bolted into everyone’s hearts as OITNB’s Poussey – at least until her untimely death at the end of the last season. Yikes. Hopefully we’ll have a chance to see her in other awesome stuff, besides just her adorable Instagram pics with future wifey Lauren Morelli.

Obama Awards Ellen DeGeneres Presidential Medal Of Freedom

This week, President Obama named Ellen DeGeneres as one of the recipients of the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

The Presidential Medal of Freedom recognises people who have made “especially meritorious contributions” to the US, the White House said, and is seen as the highest honour a civilian can receive in the US.

In a statement, he said the medal was a “tribute to the idea that all of us, no matter where we come from, have the opportunity to change this country for the better”.

The Presidential Medal of Freedom is not just our nation’s highest civilian honor – it’s a tribute to the idea that all of us, no matter where we come from, have the opportunity to change this country for the better. From scientists, philanthropists, and public servants to activists, athletes, and artists, these 21 individuals have helped push America forward, inspiring millions of people around the world along the way.”

Obama will honour the 20 other people at a ceremony.

Tom Hanks, Robert De Niro, Diana Ross and Robert Redford are among the other honourees from the entertainment world.

Bill and Melinda Gates and Saturday Night Live producer Lorne Michaels will also be recognised.

Ellen DeGeneres Addresses Presidential Election: ‘We’re Far More Alike Than We Are Different’

Ellen DeGeneres addressed the 2016 presidential election on Wednesday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, in remarks that were actually taped before Donald Trump was officially elected president.

Despite the divided attitudes heading into the election, DeGeneres chose to see the best in America and the people who live here.

People have been very passionate about this race. And I think it’s because we all love our country — we just have different ideas about what’s best for it, which is part of what makes America great.

And I believe we can all come together because if you take away the labels, you realize we’re far more alike than we are different.”

hillary-clinton-ellen-degeneres-2015-billboard-650

DeGeneres openly supported Clinton, attending fundraisers and interviewing on her show several times.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a liberal or if you’re conservative, we’ve all passed out watching Netflix and woke up not knowing what episode we’re on, what season we’re on, whose couch we’re on.”

DeGeneres ended her monologue with a message of hope and perseverance.

What I’m trying to say is that we have so much in common, our differences actually make us stronger. We need to have the kindness and respect for one another. Here’s where I make the exception: the people that leave the shopping carts in the middle of your parking spot. Out of the country. Kick them out of the country. Bring the shopping cart back!”

Ellen DeGeneres Recalls Her ‘Rock Bottom’ After Coming Out

Ellen DeGeneres made history when she came out publicly 1997 on the cover of Time magazine, but in doing so she found her career suffered.

Ellen-DeGeneres-show-02

Her hit her ABC sitcom was cancelled a year later, and her movie career also stalled after starring in the dismally-reviewed (and prophetically-titled) romantic comedy Mr. Wrong, which bombed at the box office in 1996.

Talking to the annual Out 100 issue, she recalls

I was the punch line of lots of jokes. I laughed at some, but I realized there’s somebody on the other side of them. It’s cruel. I’ve never liked mean comedy, but that became even more important to me after I was the brunt of it.”

But luckily for us, the 28-time Emmy winner went on to land her own daytime talk show The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which boosted her self-esteem.

Before this show, I had a lot of insecurity. I wasn’t sure if I was going to work again, and although I was out, I was still trying to alter myself — not dressing the way I wanted to dress or wearing my hair the way I wanted to. I slowly gained the confidence to be authentic, and what I’ve learned about other people is that they strive to be authentic, too.

So whether they fully support me, love my lifestyle, or love that I’m married to a woman, I think they like that authenticity, and they’re drawn to it.” At the time, the media response reaffirmed DeGeneres’s comedic philosophy.

DeGeneres continued:

And what I’ve learned about other people is that they strive to be authentic, too. So whether they fully support me, love my lifestyle, or love that I’m married to a woman, I think they like that authenticity, and they’re drawn to it.”

Ellen DeGeneres Talks Love And Marriage

Talking to PEOPLE in this week’s cover story, Ellen DeGeneres admits that her life has been blessed by any standards.

I’m grateful for everything. I’m grateful for my health, and I’m so grateful for the love in my life. Because not everybody finds that. Not everybody finds that best friend.”

1f8205f339cb75a3e75a92b8e32a981b

DeGeneres, who tied the knot with Portia de Rossi in 2008, insists she has learned to never take their relationship for granted.

Portia and I constantly say to each other, ‘We are so lucky.’ Sometimes it’s lying in bed at night before I go to sleep, and I just say thank you to whatever, whoever is out there. I’ve gotten to a place where I really am just settled. Really. I know that I’m not going anywhere. She’s not going anywhere. I’m not saying the relationship took a while; I’m saying in my life, it took a while to find this.”

When it comes to love, DeGeneres adds.

You get what you give. I think you can’t expect someone to treat you a certain way. Whatever it is, if you’re getting a lot of negative energy or anger, you have to say, ‘Why am I getting this? Am I doing something to create it?’ And if the answer is honestly no, then get out of that situation.”

Pictures-Taylor-Swift-Lauren-Conrad-Drew-Barrymore-Ellen-DeGeneres-Cover-Girl-Party-2011-01-06-062826

DeGeneres also says they strive to put their marriage first, despite their busy careers.

Our priorities are each other too. If we had kids, then I’m sure they would be, but we are. And that’s important.

I think the word ‘love’ is thrown around, like, ‘I love you’ is great to hear, but you want to feel it. You want to feel that you’re understood, and they know exactly who you are, and they know how to take care of you. That, to me, is family. I don’t think it has anything to do with blood relation. Family for everyone is different.”

So what’s the best part about being married? DeGeneres adds.

There’s no best part. It’s everything. I can’t imagine not being married. I have my best friend, the person I want to spend time with more than anybody else in the world.”

Ellen DeGeneres Named One Of The ‘Highest Paid’ TV Stars

Modern Family’s favourite gay dads – Eric Stonestreet and Jesse Tyler Ferguson – pick up around $250,000 per show.

Ellen DeGeneres Says Usain Bolt Tweet Wasn’t Meant to Be Racist

Ellen Degeneres has come under fire this week for tweeting an edited photo that many are rightfully calling, “racist”.

The row cantered on a photo of Bolt taken during a 100-meter semi-final on Sunday, in which the Jamaican sprinter appears to smile as he glances back towards his competitors in the race.

The image his gone viral in recent days, with many different versions of it created for comic effect and shared widely on social media.

But it was Degeneres version, which has sparked outrage:

The post has evoked criticism from social media users

DeGeneres addressed the controversy in a message

This, however, isn’t the first time Degeneres has been accused of being racist. Last October, The Ellen Show created a sketch parodying Nicki Minaj’s early life, where a young version of Minaj was shown with a dramatically enlarged butt. This not only sexualized a young black girl, but also received backlash on Twitter for body shaming.

And although Degeneres is known for her generosity toward young viral stars, she’s still faced criticism for often promoting white privilege and neglecting popular black culture.

Ellen DeGeneres Reveals How Her Father Struggled With Her Decision to Come Out As Gay

The actress-and-talk show host, , who is married to actress Portia de Rossi, announced to the world she was a lesbian in 1997.

Ellen, whose parents divorced when she was young, has revealed how her ‘overprotective’ dad, Elliott Everett DeGeneres, was worried for her when she went public with her sexuality because he wanted her to have a quiet life and was the opposite of her “sassy” mother Betty DeGeneres.

Speaking to HELLO! magazine, she said:

My parents divorced when I was young – they were very different personalities. My mother is a strong woman, sarcastic and sassy, and I learnt how to be a tough woman from her. My dad is a wonderful man but he has a lot of fear and he was overprotective of me.

He didn’t want me to hurt myself so he wanted me to be nice and quiet all the time and not really argue or speak my opinion. So imagine his challenge of having an openly gay child … When you’re growing up, whatever your environment is, if you don’t know any different, that is what it is.

I didn’t know anything was wrong until I got older and I started doing some soul-searching and read some books. I learnt a lot of lessons the hard way, which is a beautiful way to learn them.”

Ellen married Portia, in August 2008 after the ban on same-sex marriages was overturned in California.

Now I have Portia in my life, I’ve been forced to grow a great deal, because I’ve learnt that you can’t really get anything from anyone unless you have something to give to them.

So I come to this relationship as a whole person, which I wasn’t ever before. She and I both support each other and we both believe in each other and it’s great.”

billboard-letter-02-435

The cover reads

As leading artists and executives in the music industry, we are adding our voices to the chorus of Americans demanding change,”

The names of all 133 actors and music stars, and 57 executives, that are backing the campaign also feature on the front and back of the publication.

Standing along side Ellen DeGeneres are Adam Lambert, Alicia Keys, Barbra Streisand, Beck, Billy Joel, Bonnie Raitt, Calvin Harris, Carole King, Cher, , Elvis Costello, James Corden, Jennifer Lopez, Katy Perry, Lee Daniels, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Meghan Trainor, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Selena Gomez, Tony Bennett, Yoko Ono and Zayn Malik also feature in the list.

The lengthy letter reads:

Music always has been celebrated communally, on dancefloors and at concert halls. But this life-affirming ritual, like so many other daily experiences – going to school or church or work – now is threatened, because of the gun violence in this country.

The one thing that connects the recent tragedies in Orlando is that it is far too easy for dangerous people to get their hands on guns.”

The tragedies referred to in Orlando, Florida, include the mass shooting at Pulse nightclub by gunman Omar Mateen and the assassination of singer Christina Grimmie by shooter Kevin Loibl at a fan meet and greet in the city.

The letter continues to list the ways that Congress should be doing more to prevent gun violence in America, such as “require a background check for every gun sale” and “make it illegal for suspected terrorists to legally buy guns”.

Ellen DeGeneres Marks Pride Month With New Montage

Ellen DeGeneres has been a gay icon for decades now, and the talk show host has marked Pride Month with a touching video featuring many LGBT celebrities who have opened up to her over the years.

In the video, she talks with Orpah Winfrey about her own experience:

Your true legacy, the real work that you’ve done on the planet, will be teaching people how to live authentically as themselves.”

Winfrey appeared on the landmark episode of DeGeneres’ sitcom Ellen in 1997 when her fictional character of Ellen Morgan came out. At the same time, DeGeneres herself came out on the cover of Time magazine.

Then there her meeting with Ellen Page, were DeGeneres chats about her coming out moment at a GLAAD event in Las Vegas in 2014 before a large crowd.

ellen and ellen

Page recalls:

I think my biggest fear in doing that was having a panic attack quite frankly. I was just so ready to do it … and excited to do it.”

In another moment, Transparent creator Jill Soloway, a bisexual whose father is transgender, says:

When people come out, they are literally coming out to save their lives. They’re coming out to make a break for freedom for authenticity. It really is an example for all of us.”

And Caitlyn Jenner, who DeGeneres had confronted about her lukewarm endorsement of same-sex marriage, is seen in the video saying:

There’s nothing better than waking up in the morning and be able to be your authentic self.”

Ellen-Caitlyn-02

But the last words belong to President Barack Obama who tells DeGeneres:

As much as we’ve done with laws and ending Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell etc, changing hearts and minds? I don’t think there’s anybody who’s been more influential than you have been.”
