Ellen DeGeneres playfully Pokes fun at Sarah Paulson’s relationship with Holland Taylor

Ellen DeGeneres poked fun at Sarah Paulson and her relationship with Holland Taylor when she appeared on her show via Zoom.

Paulson had been talking about her hectic work schedule, saying she was filming American Crime Story in LA before shooting the second series of Netlflix’s Ratched

DeGeneres joked: “You’re rarely home. No wonder your relationship works. You never see one another.”

Sarah also discussed her randy rescue dog Winnie, who she said loves to constantly hump her arm. While she finds it funny, she said Holland is ‘disgusted.’

During a conversation about Paulson‘s dog, Winnie, a photo of Pennywise from the IT film flashing up and scared the actress leading her to ask, “How do you press Leave Meeting? I’m leaving. This is horrible!”

Sarah Paulson Talks Her Romance With Holland Taylor: “Maybe There’s Something Brave In It”

Many words have been used in regard to Sarah Paulson and Holland Taylor’s romance. Now, the actress is sharing a few of her own.

Paulson – who is usually very private about her long-time relationship with the fellow actress, Taylor – has opened up a touch more about her safely guarded personal life – and why it is that way.

In a new interview with NET-A-PORTER’s The EDIT, Paulson revealed she heard the same opinions that the likes of Amber Heard and Ezra Miller have spoken about when it came to their dating choices – that it would hurt her career.

Talking to Town & Country, she explained

“I do not want to be defined by who I share my bed, my home, my soul with. My choices in life have been unconventional, and that’s my business.”

However, she does acknowledge what being public with her private life can do for others watching.

“I do want to live responsibly and truthfully without hiding. It’s complicated, because there is a lot of hate in this world, and a lot of good can come from quote-unquote normalizing something for people who don’t see it as normal. Our relationship represents a certain amount of hope and risk. Maybe there’s something brave in it. Maybe it encourages others to make brave choices.”

As the Golden Globe winner quickly learned, not everyone’s reaction to her relationship would match her’s.

She previously told The EDIT, that she heard the same opinions that the likes of Amber Heard and Ezra Miller have spoken about when it came to their dating choices – that it would hurt her career.

“My life choices are, um, unconventional. I’m with a much older person and people find that totally fascinating and odd, and, to me, it’s the least interesting thing about me. But I do feel a bit unconventional.

Early on, when people found out I was with Holland, some said: ‘I think you have to be careful, I’m afraid it’s going to affect your career negatively’. I was like, what? It never occurred to me at all.”

In fact, Paulson revealed that she even questioned whether she should publicly address her girlfriend during her Emmy’s speech, while accepting the award for her portrayal of Marcia Clarke in The People vs OJ Simpson.

“It occurred to me, should I not do that? And then I thought, why would I not? The fact I’m having this thought is wrong. But I had a moment of societal concern; wondering if, maybe, people who didn’t know that about me would be like, wait, what? But then, you know, I did it anyway.”

Holland Taylor Calls Relationship With Sarah Paulson ‘Wonderful Love’

Talking on Sandra Bernhard’s “Sandyland” SiriusXM show, Holland Taylor chatted about her romance with Sarah Paulson.

In her interview, Taylor says of her relationship with Paulson

I must say it has to be part of what has to be the most wonderful thing in my life, is the whole embrace of this wonderful relationship which makes everything else makes sense, I’m the luckiest person in the world. I can’t talk about my life today and not mention this wonderful love.

I’m the luckiest person in the world. I can’t talk about my life today and not mention this wonderful love.”

The couple, who’ve been together for nearly two years, originally met a dinner party about a decade ago. Though dating someone else at the time, Paulson thought Taylor was “probably the most exquisitely beautiful woman I’d ever seen,” she said in a March interview.

They crossed paths a few years later, at which point they followed each other on Twitter, exchanged direct messages and decided to go out for dinner.

Holland Taylor Talks 32-year Age Gap With Girlfriend Sarah Paulson

It’s a fact, Holland Taylor and Sarah Paulson are in love. But some people are more interested in their relationship because Holland is 32 year old older than Sarah, rather than the fact they are two women in love.

Talking on The View, Holland had this to say

Sarah being part of the younger generation, she is very much standing on the right side of history.

Her shout out at the Emmys was amazing and very, very moving. The public seemed to be very thrilled by it and it’s a new life – it’s a new time.”

When quizzed on the age differnece she added;

I can only say what the old comic said dating a very much younger girl like he always did: “You know what can I tell ya? If she dies, she dies.”

10 Celebrities Who Came Out This Year

Whether you admit it or not, we’ve all had quite a rough year one way or another. If it wasn’t evident in the first quarter, now that we’re nearing the end, we can pretty much assume how bad it’s gotten. But it ain’t all gloomy, screwed news. Some of our faves took time to bring about positivity through their coming outs.

Let’s rejoice and remember that life has its ups and downs, but these are one for the books.

1. Kristen Stewart

kristen-stewart-1

The Still Alice star came out mid this year after revealing in an interview with Elle UK how in love she is with her then girlfriend, Alicia Cargile. It’s been speculated many times now because of the way the actress behaves and how she likes representing herself, but more so because she skirts around questions that required any labels.

2, Miley Cyrus

miley-cyrus

Cyrus, in an interview with Variety earlier this year, stated how she “didn’t really feel straight” and “didn’t really feel gay” either. “It’s because I’m not,” she says. The former Hannah Montana protagonist identifies as pansexual and even recounts her first relationship to be with a “chick”. Miley says she would never let anyone put her identity in a box.

3. Lily-Rose Depp

This 17-year-old is using social media to spread awareness. Not only did she come out as sexually fluid via Instagram, she’s also part of the Self Evident Truth Project. This is a photographic document of 10,000 people in the USA that identify as anything other than 100% straight.

4. Bella Thorne

bella-thorne-at-wondercon-2016-ratchet-and-clank-at-los-angeles-convention-center-_3

The former Disney star doesn’t want frills and cheap thrills. She’s all about getting straight to the point and just coming right out – quite literally. A fan asked her on twitter if she was bisexual to which she answered, “yes”.

5. Bex Taylor-Klaus

The Scream actress came out to the rest of the internet in a very casual tweet, followed by a YouNow stream addressing further questions. Taylor-Klaus revealed the reason for coming out this way, “So I have a chance to interact with those of you who feel that way and who kind of want to know more.”

6. Holland Taylor

Speaking with WNYC, Holland Taylor revealed she was in a serious relationship with a woman. When asked if she wanted to elaborate on her sexuality, she responded, “I haven’t come out because I am out. I live out.”

Turns out that lady was Sarah Paulson, and ever since the couple has been very out with their relationship.

7. Mara Wilson

she-was-a-huge-star-in-the-90s-but-whatever-happened-to-matilda-actor-mara-wilson-551322

In the wake of the devastating mass shooting in Orlando, Florida, Mara Wilson took to Twitter to come out of the closet in June 2016. The Matilda star confirmed to fans via a series of tweets that she’s bisexual, and after receiving a flurry of responses signed off the site, saying, “Thank you so much to everybody who has sent me words of support. I support you all, too.

8. Aubrey Plaza

Aubrey Plaza

Plaza revealed earlier in 2016 that gender “isn’t a factor” for her when it comes to dating and romantic relationships. She did not call herself a bisexual, but she did say that she has a very “androgynous and masculine” aura about her, and that tends to attract many different kinds of people, which she is totally cool with.

9. Amandla Stenberg

Amandla Stenberg

Amandla Stenberg came out in a heartfelt video in early 2016 to tell the world that she was “a black bisexual woman” and that she understands the discrimination and hate that is being flung at the LGBTQ community. She said that she feels the pain and that it hurts, and she wants to be an advocate for change and acceptance.

Given her reputation and presence in the teenager public sphere, Stenberg talked to Teen Vogue via SnapChat to interact with the magazine and its readers. She feels so much better now that she doesn’t have to hide or limit who she is and how she really feels. Citing other black actresses and singers, Stenberg said that she was getting loads of support from the Hollywood community and that she was extremely grateful for that.

10. Rowan Blanchard

14-year-old actress Rowan Blanchard spoke up at the start of 2016 and proclaimed that she did not want to be tied down by any labels in regards to her sexuality. Blanchard used Twitter to declare to the world that she was not interested in sticking a label on herself or her identity, but that she preferred to just be known as a queer actress. In her Tweet, the actress wrote: “I personally don’t wanna label myself as straight, gay, or whateva so I am not gonna give myself labels to stick with – just existing.” She is “open to liking any gender,” and that is why she identifies as queer.

The star of the Disney Channel TV series Girl Meets World public statement could be the shifting of tides when it comes to the Disney Channel and its reputation for employing straight-laced and clean cut child and teenage actors.

10 Quotes To Inspire (And Reassure) Anyone Worried About Discussing Their Sexuality

Today marks the 28th anniversary of National Coming Out Day.

For some, coming out to even their nearest and dearest can feel like a scary task; for others, almost an insurmountable challenge.

But the last year has been an excellent one for LGBTQ visibility, with a number of high-profile figures speaking honestly and forthrightly about their sexuality and same-sex relationships.

1. Miley Cyrus

Miley-Cyrus-01

My whole life, I didn’t understand my own gender and my own sexuality. I always hated the word ‘bisexual,’ because that’s even putting me in a box. I don’t ever think about someone being a boy or someone being a girl. Also, my nipple pasties and sh– never felt sexualized to me. My eyes started opening in the fifth or sixth grade. My first relationship in my life was with a chick.”

2. Ellen Page

ellen Page Sundance

Being in the closet hurt my career way more than being out and being happy and feeling inspired again; being able to fuse my authentic self with my creative interests.”

3. Mara Wilson

she-was-a-huge-star-in-the-90s-but-whatever-happened-to-matilda-actor-mara-wilson-551322

I used to identify as mostly straight. I’ve embraced the Bi/Queer label lately.

The LGBTQ community has always felt like home, especially a few years later when I, uh, learned something about myself.”

4. Kristen Stewart

Kristen Stewart

When I was dating a guy I was hiding everything that I did because everything personal felt like it was immediately trivialised, so I didn’t like it. We were turned into these characters and placed into this ridiculous comic book, and I was like, ‘That’s mine. You’re making my relationship something that it’s not.’ I didn’t like that.

But then it changed when I started dating a girl. I was like, ‘Actually, to hide this provides the implication that I’m not down with it or I’m ashamed of it, so I had to alter how I approached being in public. It opened my life up and I’m so much happier.”

5. Amanda Stenberg

Amandla Stenberg

It’s a really, really hard thing to be silenced and it’s deeply bruising to fight against your identity and to mould yourself into shapes that you just shouldn’t in.

As someone who identifies as a black, bisexual woman, I’ve been through it and it hurts and it’s awkward and it’s uncomfortable…but then I realised because of Solange and Ava DuVernay and Willow [Smith] and all the black girls watching this right now that there’s absolutely nothing to change. We cannot be suppressed. We are meant to express our joy and our love and our tears and be big and bold and definitely not easy to swallow.”

6. Holland Taylor

Holland Taylor

It’s awkward because if I talk about relationships in my life or people that have been in my life … I’d like to be able to just say that, without having to stop and say, ‘so have you come out?’ No, I haven’t come out because I am out. I live out.”

7. Eva Gutowski

It’s awkward because if I talk about relationships in my life or people that have been in my life … I’d like to be able to just say that, without having to stop and say, ‘so have you come out?’ No, I haven’t come out because I am out. I live out.”

Just because you haven’t dated someone of the same sex does not mean you can’t be taken seriously as a bisexual. I am ready for myself to fall in love with someone, no matter who they end up being, and have been since I was 12. Boy or girl.”

8. Rachel Maddow

The single best thing about coming out of the closet is that nobody can insult you by telling you what you’ve just told them.”

9. Bella Thorne

Not only today but all days we should celebrate acceptance of others. Be who you want to be and it will take you to being your happiest self! #bivisibilityday.”

Holland Taylor Discusses Her New Play, And Sarah Paulson’s Emmys Shout-Out

Sarah Paulson may have brought Marcia Clark as her date to the Emmys last month, but her real-life girlfriend Holland Taylor was ever present.

Taylor watched the award show on television in New York City where she is currently appearing on Broadway in The Front Page.

Talking NBC’s The Today Show Taylor was quick to praise Paulson

That whole Emmy night was so thrilling. She’s done six roles – different characters – in five years and been nominated for every one of them. For Marcia Clark, she has to win or the Earth is going to tilt on its fricken axis.”

When Paulson won she concluded her acceptance speech with,

And Holland Taylor, I love you. Thank you.”

giphy-33

Taylor – a past Emmy winner herself – says of that gesture:

When she shouted out to me, I didn’t know she was going to do that. But the thing about Sarah is, long before she’s a brilliant actress – which she is – she is a real wonderful stand-up person of great quality and she stands on the right side of history.”

Paulson has a record from showing her feelings for her partner in public.

In 2005 she kissed her then-girlfriend Cherry Jones at The Tony Awards.

Jones was announced as the winner of best actress in a play for her performance as Sister Aloysius in Doubt.

Paulson told NOTOFU Magazine:

What am I gonna do, pat her on the back and say, :Good job, dude?” It didn’t occur to me to do anything but what I did.”

Sarah Paulson: ‘Emmy Win Made Me Feel Like I Belonged’

Last weekend, actress Sarah Paulson finally won big at the Emmy – winning the Outstanding Lead Actress for her role as prosecutor Marcia Clark in The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.

Talking to Variety about her victory, she says it was what she needed to make her realise just how faActress Sarah Paulson felt like she “belonged” after her work was recognised when she took home an Emmy Award on Sunday r she has come.

As an actor, you’re always afraid that you don’t belong, especially when you keep getting let into rooms that you’re not sure you should be in, with more people that you respect and admire. You say to yourself quietly, ‘I hope they don’t realise that they let me in here and make me leave.’ Somehow, standing there with all of those people, their reaction made me think that I belonged.”

While Paulson has been in the acting industry for the past 22 years, it is only recently that she has received critical acclaim for her skills on screen.

Paulson is also aware that having an Emmy win in the bag will likely contribute to her being offered more work going forward.

This means someone else will ask me to do something great,” she added.

Following her win, Paulson was flooded with congratulatory messages, including sweet-nothings from her girlfriend, Holland Taylor.

However, she says she is still struggling to accept her Emmy win, telling the publication:

To be 41 years old, approaching 42, and to have all of this? We all know what goes up must come down, right? I’m just trying to keep my eye on the horizon.”

Paulson opted to take the real-life Marcia Clark as her date to the Emmys, and insisted that she came backstage with her as her name was engraved onto her trophy.

While she needed to get special permission to bring Marcia backstage at that moment, the actress insists it was entirely “appropriate”.

Playing Marcia has become a career-defining role for her, admitting she was keen to portray the embattled lawyer on screen.

The thing I kept coming back to was I wanted to cut to the quick of how abandoned I felt she was by women, almost as a collective. It just felt like everyone wanted to drop the hot potato that was Marcia Clark. I so felt for her, having only played it. Multiply that by a million, and also have it be your actual life.”

Sarah Paulson: “People Should Be Allowed To Love Whomever You F*cking Well Please.”

In a new interview with NOTOFU magazine, American Horror Story’s Sarah Paulson has admitted she was a little nervous after kissing her then girlfriend, Cherry Jones, at the 2005 Tony Awards, after Jones won the Best Actress in a Play award for playing Sister Aloysius in Doubt.

At the time, Paulson had just booked her first high profile TV role, in Studio 60 On Sunset Strip, and wondered whether the spontaneous smooch would have repercussions for that.

I was just doing what one would do when a person they love has just won a big award. What am I gonna do, pat her on the back and say, ‘Good job, dude’? It didn’t occur to me to do anything but what I did.”

She said when she arrived on set for the NBC series Studio 60, Aaron Sorkin made it clear that she would “never have anything to worry about” with regards her sexual orientation.

It was the biggest exhale of my life… I didn’t realise how anxious about it I had been until he said that.”

Now Paulson is open about her relationship with Emmy-winner actor Holland Taylor.

I believe that everyone should be allowed to speak their truth and just say what they want to say and show the world who they are. You should be able to love whomever you fucking well please.”

Daily Juice: Holland Taylor Gives Sarah Paulson Perfect Review, Plus 15 Medical Ways To Spot A Lesbian

Holland Taylor says she is not biased but still has an awesome opinion on her girlfriend’s performance in American Crime Story.

Apparently, back in the day there were 15 ways to spot a lesbian – well – according to some really old medical journals found by Autostraddle.

Talking with Paper, Ireland Baldwin (who was once in same-sex relationship Angel Haze) says she doesn’t feel like an LGBT role model.

I wouldn’t say I’m trying to be anyone’s role model. I just support people who are true to themselves and aren’t afraid to openly be who there are and support others who are doing the same.”

Sarah Paulson Opens Up About Acting, And Dating Older Women

Last year, news broke American Horror actress Sarah Paulson, who was about to turn 41, was dating the actress Holland Taylor, who is 32 years her senior.

The online reaction was immediate and (rare for a celebrity dating story) almost entirely positive.

Paulson, for her part, found the sudden attention “surreal.”

In an interview with the New York Times, she says she tried to keep her distance from the hubbub but acknowledged,

My choices in romantic partners have not been conventional, and therefore the idea that it is ‘other’ makes it compelling.”

Before dating Taylor, Paulson was in a seven-year relationship with the actress Cherry Jones, who is 18 years older than she is. Before that, she dated men, including the actor and playwright Tracy Letts, who is nine years older and to whom she was engaged.

She never kept her same-sex relationships secret, but she has been wary of labelling her sexuality, for fear of being “skewered” should she change her dating habits later on.

If my life choices had to be predicated based on what was expected of me from a community on either side, that’s going to make me feel really straitjacketed, and I don’t want to feel that,” she said. “What I can say absolutely is that I am in love, and that person happens to be Holland Taylor.”

The women first met at a dinner party about a decade ago, when Paulson was still with Jones. Nevertheless, she thought that Taylor was “probably the most exquisitely beautiful woman I’d ever seen.”

They crossed paths again a few years later, when the actress Martha Plimpton asked both to record videos for her reproductive-rights organization, A Is For.

Paulson was filming American Horror Story: Asylum at the time, and Taylor was working on her one-woman play, Ann, about the former Texas governor Ann Richards.

After that, they followed each other on Twitter and exchanged direct messages before finally deciding to go out for dinner. They have now been together for a little more than a year.

Paulson said she had never seriously dated anyone her own age.

There’s a poignancy to being with someone older. I think there’s a greater appreciation of time and what you have together and what’s important, and it can make the little things seem very small. It puts a kind of sharp light mixed with a sort of diffused light on something. I can’t say it any other way than there’s a poignancy to it, and a heightened sense of time and the value of time.”

She has always gravitated toward her elders, she added, beginning in junior high school.

I had a complicated home life, and my teachers, predominantly my theatre teachers and my English teachers, were very dedicated to taking care of me in a particular way. And in doing so, I think I developed a very easy rapport with people older than myself.”

Lily Tomlin and Jane Wagner

Actress Lily Tomlin and writer Jane Wagner may have gotten legally married in 2013, but the pair met 44 years ago, in 1971.

In the 2012 book We Killed, legendary comic Tomlin told the story of how she’d wanted to come out about her relationship with writer Wagner at the height of the career in ’70s, but was told she couldn’t because it would ruin her career.

And then, after that, we had to go outside to the car, which was in front of the theatre. There was a huge audience, and when we got in the car, her fans were rocking the car back and forth. And the idea that somebody’s career could actually be ruined and that their lives could get ruined was astonishing. To go from that to ‘You can’t let out that you’re gay or they’ll hate you’ struck me.”

Forty years later, they are out and people still love Lily.

20. Cynthia Nixon & Christine Marinoni

Cynthia Nixon & Christine Marinoni

Since finishing her run on Sex and the City, Cynthia Nixon has stuck to acting in short form pieces of fried gold like Alpha House and Hannibal, while her wife, Christine Marinoni, has been working as a special adviser for community partnerships in the Department of Education in New York. If a politician marrying a hot actress isn’t the definition of a power couple, then what is?

21. Sara Gilbert and Linda Perry

The Talk co-host Sara Gilbert and award-winning songwriter Linda Perry married in 2014 and still seem to be in their honeymoon phase – we dare you to find one photo in which they aren’t both smiling. However, 2015 was a big year for the couple. Gilbert gave birth to the couple’s son, Rhodes Emilio Gilbert Perry, back in February, and the duo released the children’s album Deer Sounds that features Rhodes.

22. Sarah Paulson & Holland Taylor

In December 2015, reports revealed that American Horror Story star Sarah Paulson was in a committed relationship with Two and a Half Men actress Holland Taylor. Before then, Taylor, who is 32 years older than Paulson, had admitted to being in a serious relationship with a woman, although she wouldn’t say who it was.

10 Famous Women Who Came Out in 2015

Last year, we brought you our top 10 list of out women who ‘totally rocked’ 2014, but this year we’re switching it up a bit as so many famous ladies found the courage to start living their truths (or 2015 was just the year that they spoke about their identities to the media) that we couldn’t help but celebrate!

Our hearts have swelled and we may have shed a few tears or so finding out that yes, celebrities are just like us. So without further ado, here’s our list of 10 famous women who came out during 2015.

1. Holland Taylor

Holland Taylor

If you’re up to date on queer media then you’ll probably know Holland Taylor as Peggy Peabody in The L Word or as Mrs. Petrie in D.E.B.S, but if you’ve spent any time on the Internet in the last few weeks then you’ll know her from the media’s headlines.

During an interview with WYNC’s Death, Sex and Money podcast, Taylor explained that “I haven’t come out because I am out, I live out” and that she’s in her ‘first-ever deeply committed relationship’.

Calling the relationship “the most wonderful extraordinary thing that could have ever possibly happened in my life”, Taylor didn’t reveal her partner’s identity during the podcast but following Internet speculation, it was soon confirmed that her girlfriend is the one and only Sarah Paulson.

2. Kristen Stewart

Kristen Stewart is best known to heterosexuals for her role as Bella Swan in the Twilight movie franchise but she’s (probably) best known to the rest of us as the woman of our dreams. Indeed, after photos of her out and about with her ‘gal pal’ Alicia Cargile began to do the rounds, many began to ask whether or not Kristen Stewart is actually not-heterosexual.

After her mother appeared to out her, confirming the relationship between the two women, the actresses interview with NYLON was published. In it, she explained that

I don’t feel like it would be true for me to be like, ‘I’m coming out!’ No, I do a job. Until I decide that I’m starting a foundation or that I have some perspective or opinion that other people should be receiving…I don’t.”

Moreover, she thinks that “in three or four years, there are going to be a whole lot more people who don’t think it’s necessary to figure out if you’re gay or straight. It’s like, just do your thing.”

3. Caitlyn Jenner

Caitlyn Jenner 05

When it comes to the Kardashian/Jenner family, it’s usually Kim, Khloe, Kylie or Kendall making the headlines but in June, it was Caitlyn Jenner as she came out as a trans woman.

In a beautiful photoshoot and interview with Vanity Fair, the Olympian and reality TV star revealed her true gender identity.

Caitlyn has been a controversial figure amongst the transgender community ever since (her E! reality show suggests that she still has a lot to learn about the struggles of less-privileged trans people) and on The Ellen DeGeneres show she admitted to the talk show host that she’s still a bit wary when it comes to same-sex marriage but her coming out did spark a conversation and it encouraged many other people to come out too.

4. Ingrid Nilsen

Ingrid Nilsen

If you don’t spend much time on YouTube then there’s a good chance that up until June of this year, you had no idea who Ingrid Nilsen was.

But, in an emotional, 19 minute video, the beauty and fashion vlogger revealed her struggle of being closeted and how much it meant to her to be able to tell those around her (and her almost 4 million subscribers) about her identity.

And, in a super cute turn of events, not long after Ingrid came out, she revealed that she’s dating (fellow YouTube superstar) Hannah Hart!

5. Jess Glynne

Rather Be Jess Glynne

Holy My Hand, Not Letting Go, My Love, Rather Be, and Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself; these massively popular songs all reached number 1 in the UK and earned Jess Glynne a place in the record books as the British solo female with the most #1 singles (a record she shares with Cheryl Fernandez Versini). But as we were all dancing along, Jess revealed exactly what inspired all of the tracks.

Her debut album, I Cry When I Laugh, was inspired by her break up with her ex-girlfriend, though she told The Daily Star Sunday that “I’m never going to put a label on my sexuality and people should never feel uncomfortable about who they love”.

6. Miley Cyrus

Miley-Cyrus-01

Miley Cyrus is one controversial figure and her tabloid-featuring antics mean that some people loathe her rather than like her.

However, plenty of people supported her when the former Disney star came out as pansexual earlier this year and she also spoke about her gender identity too.

Speaking to Paper magazine, the singer and actress told the publication that “I don’t relate to being boy or girl, and I don’t have to have my partner relate to boy or girl”.

Note: Despite this being a list of ‘out famous women’, Miley Cyrus identifies as gender-fluid and not as a woman.

7. Ramona Bachmann

Ramona Bachmann

This year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup was a defining moment of 2015 for so many reasons.

Not only was it the most viewed women’s world cup in the tournament’s history and not only did it ignite a debate about sexism and equal treatment (due to the women being paid less than the men and having to play on astro-turf) but because many non-heterosexual football players would be playing too.

Joining Megan Rapinoe, Abby Wambach, Ali Krieger and several others was Swiss player Ramona Bachmann who actually came out at the world cup. She revealed that her girlfriend, Camille, was at the tournament supporting her and that they’d been together for almost a year.

8. Cara Delevingne

Cara Delevingne 07

Supermodel and actress Cara Delevingne is no stranger to the LGBTQ community having made headlines last year when she attended a basketball game with her then-girlfriend Michelle Rodriguez, with the two of them being all over each other as they sat court-side.

But in Vogue she spoke openly about her sexuality, saying that she’s in love with her girlfriend Annie Clark (known by her stage name, St. Vincent) and that she could fall for anyone of any gender.

Unfortunately, the Vogue interview seemed to frame her sexuality as a phase and not long after, Delevingne clarified, saying “my sexuality is not a phase. I am who I am”

9. Patricia Velasquez

Patricia-Velasquez-03

Model and actress Patricia Velasquez is credited as being the world’s first Latina supermodel and in 1994 she was also the first Venezuelan model to be part of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition. But what people didn’t know is that during that same decade – the 90s – Velasquez was also coming to terms with her identity as a gay woman.

In her memoir, Straight Walk: A Supermodel’s Journey to Finding Her Truth, she reveals that she first realised her sexuality after she fell for Sandra Bernhard and that

among the fashion world and fashion people, I always felt great because, you know, the fashion world is very open and I felt very welcome”.

10. Angel McCoughtry

Angel McCoughtry

Angel McCoughtry is one of the WNBA’s most talented players having helped the USA basketball team win Olympic gold and world championship gold, but earlier this year it wasn’t her basketball achievements that had everyone talking.

The sports web was abuzz as McCoughtry left Turkish club Fenerbahҫe (officially due to contractual disagreements) and came out on Instagram.

In an Instagram post with her fiancé, Brande Elise, the basketball star revealed that “yes we been discriminated against! We lost friends! Family members are upset! They said I disgraced my religion!” also claiming that Fenerbahҫe “threatened” her job if she didn’t post on social media saying that their relationship is a lie. Hardships aside, “one thing I do know”, wrote McCoughtry, “is that LOVE is a great feeling”

May-to-December Romances: Why Dating An Older Woman Often Works

There’s something about big age differences in relationships that’s always seen as taboo. When you’re dating someone who’s old enough to be your mother (or maybe even your grandmother), people will often assume that the two of you are related and not romantic partners. But should you worry about what other people think?

If you’re happy in your relationship, no one else should be able to sway your opinion about her. There are benefits and drawbacks specific to the dynamics of a relationship that spans multiple generations. There’s always going to be someone who doesn’t understand, someone who doesn’t approve, and even someone who’s jealous.

If you can work past all these people passing judgment on you, dating an older woman might be right for you. Here are a few reasons why.

Women mature at different rates.

Some women will mature much faster than their peers, and they could be benefitted by having an older partner. Likewise, some women aren’t as mature as their peers – and they could be benefitted by having a younger partner. After all, age is mostly in your head; as long as you have things in common with your partner and you are truly happy with the arrangement you have, the age shouldn’t define your feelings.

Of course, this can be a drawback, as well, as there is always the chance of a mature younger woman being frustrated by the lack of maturity with her relatively-immature older partner. It’s important to realize that maturity and age are not mutually exclusive, and there are no promises in regards to what you’re getting yourself into.

Older women have had more time to get their lives together.

If you’re looking for someone who can take you on wild adventures, it’s likely that an older woman will have found time to find success. While age does not guarantee money (it’s about what you do with your time, after all), older women have had a longer time to save and prepare for the future.

This isn’t to say that you can’t find a successful woman your age, if that’s what you’re after. But older women also have more life experience and can offer valuable advice. As long as she is willing to respect your opinions and not “mother” you, she could be a valuable asset in your life.

Younger women will keep you more youthful.

If you are the older woman in the relationship, there’s a good chance that your younger partner can influence you to keep yourself from “getting old”. If you’re both willing to try new things, or you have similar, “youthful” interests, you can use this to your advantage – and motivate each other to stay young at heart.

Of course, this is under the assumption that you do have shared interests. It can be difficult to work around age differences if you are truly from “different worlds”. If you can’t get along as friends, you won’t get along as partners – although there is still a chance that you could be great lovers.

Older women can challenge you.

For those looking for someone who can challenge their beliefs, their intelligence, and their goals, an older woman is in a perfect position to do that. As we touched on before, an older woman will have more life experience. Although age doesn’t guarantee wisdom, it goes hand-in-hand with experiences.

This can be a problem if your older partner takes it upon herself to correct the things she feels you’re doing “wrong”, though. Your partner should guide you toward making the right decisions, but she should never control your actions. If your partner is doing this – no matter what the age difference may be – she is not the right woman for you.

The “sugar momma” fantasy is a real thing.

While I don’t broadly support the idea of “sugar mommas” and “sugar daddies”, they do exist – and many people are drawn to this idea. If all partners involved are on the same page in terms of the expectations from the relationship, there’s no foul play going on, and no one is being unfair to the other, there’s nothing wrong with it.

I personally feel that relationships should be built on a foundation of love and understanding, and not financial support, but I also feel that you shouldn’t look to someone else to validate your personal life. As long as the relationship exists between consenting adults, no one can tell you that it’s wrong. (At least, not legitimately.)

It’s not as weird as you think.

Many people have at least one partner throughout their life who isn’t in their age range. Some even intentionally seek out this type of partnership for the benefits it can offer. While it probably shouldn’t be your primary consideration, you aren’t alone in your attraction to an older woman.

Sarah Paulson fans may have recently heard about her current May-December romance with Holland Taylor, who is 32 years her senior. While this information has not been directly validated by the couple, it was reported to People Magazine by multiple sources – and certainly they’re not alone.

If you’re doing it just for the “shock value” of dating someone who isn’t your peer, it could be a bad thing, though. Generally speaking, we shouldn’t let society dictate who we love – whether we are going along with their expectations or rebelling against them. You should love your partner for who she is, not for how she makes you look.

No one else has the right to tell you what to do.

Of course there are going to be relationships where one partner allows the other to dictate certain aspects of their relationship. As long as you’re in agreement about it, there’s nothing wrong with it. But when someone who is not involved with your private life tries to determine what you should do with your private life, they are revealing that they are not worthy of your time and respect.

This is a general statement, of course. The opinions of your family and friends may factor into the decisions you make, but you should not be swayed by the opinions of strangers – and generally, these strangers are going to be the ones with the strongest opinions about what you’re doing “wrong”.

Everyone has an opinion, and you are sometimes obligated to listen to these opinions, but that doesn’t mean that you’re obligated to follow advice that you do not agree with. As humans we are responsible for our choices – not for the choices of others. As long as you’re not breaking any laws or putting anyone’s safety at risk, your life is your life.

Holland Taylor Opens Up About Her Current Relationship: “I haven’t Come Out Because I Am Out”

In a recent interview with WNYC, Holland Taylor – yes, that is Peggy Peabody of The L Word to you and me – discussed for the first time her own sexual preference, and her relationship goals with her partner, who happens to be a women.

When asked about being “enticed by marriage” in her new committed relationship. Her response:

Well, my relationship is with a woman, and I have not — given my generation it would not be something that would automatically occur to me. But she’s mentioned it because just from a spiritual point of view, from a heart point of view, as a — as a — as a deed that has a very rich symbolic gesture to it, it has its attraction. But it’s been a very casual conversation at this point. But it’s not — it would be a very private thing. I would not do that publicly. But as a symbol, as a pledge, as a plighting one’s troth I would see it — that it would be a wonderful thing to do.”

The interviewer asked if Holland wanted to say her partner’s name, and she decided against it, choosing to protect the privacy of her girlfriend.

Well I feel at this point in the conversation it feels kind of awkward. Now I feel very very shy of it. I’ve been really wrestling with this lately because most of my relationships have been with women and I don’t like talking about them because I don’t like talking about the politics of it all because I’m not political about it. I think we’re ridiculous in this country about it. Ridiculous. And so, it’s awkward because if I talk about relationships in my life or people that have been in my life, or somebody I’ve been seeing for a while or this, that and the other thing, I’d like to be able to just say that, without having to stop and say, ‘so have you come out?’ No, I haven’t come out because I am out. I live out.”

However, what she did let slip, was the fact her bae is a much younger woman.

There’s a very big age difference between us which I’m sure shocks a lot of people, and it startles me. But you know, it’s not a statement original to me — I’ve heard it as a joke once in my past, but as they say, “If she dies, she dies.”
