Here’s Why Kristen Stewart’s Coming Out Is Still So Important To Me

Last week the Kristen Stewart took a bold step in revealing in the new issue of Elle U.K. that she’s in love with a woman.

Right now I’m just really in love with my girlfriend. We’ve broken up a couple of times and gotten back together, and this time I was like, ‘Finally, I can feel again.’ “

In doing so she told the world she was not closeted, and she was not ashamed to be in a relationship with a woman.

I was like, ‘Actually, to hide this provides the implication that I’m not down with it or I’m ashamed of it, so I had to alter how I approached being in public,” Stewart said.

I know what many of you are thinking. You’re not surprised and knew Stewart and Alicia Cargile were in a relationship for quite some time now.

You’ve seen the photos of the couple holding hands. You’ve read the tabloid reports about their ups and downs.

But the big difference now is that Stewart herself has gone on record and confirmed the romance.

And by opening up about her girlfriend, she has helped many of her young fans struggling with their sexuality to see that being gay or bisexual is okay.

Yes, some of us are lucky enough to live in a time when the LGBT community is slowly being accepted, but as we all know more still needs to be done.

Coming out is still very important for us to be free and to eventually have equal protection under the law.

Harvey Milk, the first openly LGBT person to be elected to office as a city supervisor in San Francisco, understood this well when he said,

Every gay person must come out. As difficult as it is, you must tell your immediate family. You must tell your relatives. You must tell your friends if indeed they are your friends. You must tell the people you work with. You must tell the people in the stores you shop in. Once they realize that we are indeed their children, that we are indeed everywhere, every myth, every lie, every innuendo will be destroyed once and all. And once you do, you will feel so much better”

Before the gay rights movement, it was easy to believe for many that we hardly existed.

We were only a pariah of society, labelled as perverts to be harassed by police and arrested, simply for being in a bar frequented by our own kind.

Then came a night at the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village when a group of gays decided they were fed up with being harassed and corralled into patty wagons and taken to jail, just because they frequented a known gay bar.

It was time to fight back and it was time to let the world know that we did exist and we had a right to exist.

Nowadays, every time a celebrity comes out, there are those who find it offensive and they do not mind voicing their disgust in blogs and in comments.

Some just simply cannot understand why we feel the need to let everyone know we’re gay, because it is just not important anymore, to them.

I beg to differ. It is very important that gay people, especially celebrities, to let the world know they are gay or bisexual because it is those who stand up to be counted as one of us, yet another gay person, that pushes our fight for equal rights forward.

If it were not for those willing to stand up, we all would be back in the closet, living in fear, afraid to lose our jobs, our freedom, even our lives.

Perhaps the day will come when it will no longer be important that someone like Kristen Stewart to come out and let the world know she is queer.

However, as long there are people in this world that cannot live free and equal the same as heterosexuals do, then it will be of the utmost importance that every queer person who is willing and who can, to stand up and be counted.

Kristen Stewart Opens Up About Her Sexuality And Girlfriend Alicia Cargile: ‘Finally, I Can Feel Again’

Kristen Stewart has opened up about her sexuality and revealed for the first time that she has a girlfriend.

The 26-year-old actress talked about her on-again, off-again relationship with film producer Alicia Cargile in an interview in Elle UK’s September issue.

When I was dating a guy I was hiding everything that I did because everything personal felt like it was immediately trivialised, so I didn’t like it.

We were turned into these characters and placed into this ridiculous comic book, and I was like, ‘That’s mine. You’re making my relationship something that it’s not.’ I didn’t like that.

But then it changed when I started dating a girl. I was like, ‘Actually, to hide this provides the implication that I’m not down with it or I’m ashamed of it’, so I had to alter how I approached being in public.

It opened my life up and I’m so much happier.”

Referring to girlfriend Alicia Cargile, she said:

I’m just really in love with my girlfriend. We’ve broken up a couple of times and gotten back together, and this time I was like, ‘Finally, I can feel again’.”

Stewart and Cargile have been spotted out together in the past – most recently holding hands as they returned from the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.

Kristen Stewart Talks Living Her Life Without ‘Hiding’

In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, Kristen Stewart got candid about her personal life and how she has “relaxed” her approach on exposing her relationships to the public eye.

The Twilight star is known for being fiercely private about her personal life, going out of her way to keep her relationships out of the public eye as much as possible.

However, as she has gotten older, the 26-year-old has become more relaxed about what does and doesn’t make it into the headlines, because people’s comments about her lifestyle don’t hold much weight with her.

Elaborating on her change of heart, the beauty explained:

I wouldn’t talk about who I [have sex with] and how I [have sex with them] unless I was friends with you. That’s weird. But then, at the same time, I’ve discovered a way to live my life and not feel like I’m hiding at all. And I think that’s pretty apparent for anyone who cares — not that everyone does. But I think that if you had been tracking it in any way, it’s more apparent that I’m more relaxed than I used to be.”

The comments come just a few days after Stewart was spotted smooching her longtime girlfriend Alicia Cargile in L.A.

While Stewart has been pretty open with her recent romances (how could anyone forget her whirldwind PDA tour with Soko?), she has never previously addressed her change in demeanour in such a specific way to the press before.

Somehow, as I got older, I reoriented my mind. I’ve gotten better at assessing people’s motivations. It’s not something I have to overtly think about – what I share and what I don’t share. It’s a natural thing. Whereas, when I was younger, I was like, ‘You’re gonna screw me over.’ Now I’m like, ‘Whatever. You can’t.'”

Kristen Stewart Calls For A Female James Bond

KStew is the latest actor to call for a female James Bond.

During an interview promoting her new film Equals with E! News, she sketched out how the film franchise could introduce a woman to the role.

You start off as the Bond girl and then you think it’s just the girlfriend and then you’re like, ‘She’s actually [Bond],’ In the trailer, it’s him and then [a] bait and switch.”

Stewart also described the idea of middle-aged, white British men playing the infamous spy as “getting a little stale”.

Fashion magazine Elle UK has released four collector’s edition covers, which features three LGBTQ personalities – Hari Nef, Kristen Stewart, and Amandla Stenberg.

The special edition ‘Rise of the Rebel’ covers feature actors Amandla Stenberg and Kristen Stewart, and transgender model Hari Nerf will feature on a third.

The fourth spot will be taken by former One Direction star Zayn Malik.

The issue comes with the magazine’s redesign.

As the fashion world CHANGES beyond measure, the world’s biggest selling FASHION magazine changes with it. ELLE UK’s new design is braver, bolder, and SMARTER.”

That said, the covers will focus on what the stars’ influence in the fashion and entertainment world.

Kristen Stewart Took Alicia Cargile With Her To The ‘American Honey’ Premiere.

Kristen Stewart took Alicia Cargile the Cannes Film Festival for the special screening of American Honey.

And the two were pictured all smiles and holding hands on the red carpet.

So what does that mean? Nothing really, just that the two have a great connection and get on well together.

However, the story has many a tabloid fluttering, because the Twilight Saga star recently split from her former girlfriend Soko (Stephanie Sokolinski) who is also in Cannes to promote her film The Dancer, which she stars in with Lily-Rose Depp.

And Soko was apparently spotted at the Chanel Party, which was also attended by Stewart and Cargile – WOW

Stewart and Cargile were linked since last year when she was first recognised as Kristen’s personal assistant.

The pair have never confirmed their relationship, although Stewart’s mum appeared to confirm the romance to the Daily Mirror back in June 2015, but then denied her comments.

Stewart recently told Variety that she isn’t interested in defining her sexuality or her relationships to the media.

When I was dating a guy, I would never talk about my relationships to anyone. I feel the same way now. Me not defining it right now is the whole basis of what I’m about. If you don’t get it, I don’t have time for you.”

Kristen Stewart has no time for labels, and is happy that the rest of the world is changing, too.

Let’s all face it, Kristen Stewart’s love life is always going to be in the headlines whether she is in the limelight or out of it.

In a recent interview with Variety, she addressed a waning tendency to fit people into boxes.

There’s acceptance that’s become really rampant and cool. You don’t have to immediately know how to define yourself. I had to have some answer about who I was [growing up]. I felt this weird responsibility, because I didn’t want to seem fearful. But nothing seemed appropriate. So I was like, ‘F—k, how do I define that?’ I’m not going to. Plus, I didn’t want to f—k with other people. I didn’t want to be this example: It’s so easy. I don’t want it to seem like it was stupid for them to have a hard time.”

And what about all of those photos of her out and about with different alleged girlfriends that have made the front pages of countless gossip magazines?

She’s totally unfazed by them.

As much as I want to protect myself, it’s not about hiding. As soon as you start throwing up so many walls, you cannot see over them yourself, so you just start isolating in a way that’s not honest. I definitely found where I’m comfortable.”

Last year, when Stewart’s alleged romance with personal assistant Alicia Cargile was tabloid fodder, but Stewart refused to pander to the prying.

If you feel like you really want to define yourself, and you have the ability to articulate those parameters and that in itself defines you, then do it. But I am an actress, man. I live in the fucking ambiguity of this life and I love it. I don’t feel like it would be true for me to be like, ‘I’m coming out!’ No, I do a job. Until I decide that I’m starting a foundation or that I have some perspective or opinion that other people should be receiving … I don’t. I’m just a kid making movies.”

Kristen Stewart Honours Jodie Foster As She Receives Star On Hollywood Walk Of Fame

Jodie Foster received her first star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

And on hand to celebrate her new star on the Walk of Fame yesterday in Hollywood, was former Panic Room co-star Kristen Stewart – who gave a heart-warming speech in honour of the 53-year-old Oscar-winning actress.

The Twilight star took to the podium and said;

Of all the examples that I could have had at such an impressionable age, there’s nothing self-serving about her. She cares about people, she is quite the opposite of the type of person that is gravitated towards being an actress.We identified that in each other immediately.”

Foster opened up to Variety recently about why she waited to accept the honour after being in the industry for 50 years.

I made this conscious decision that I didn’t want to have a star on Hollywood Boulevard unless it was in a conjunction with a movie I was directing.”

SoKo On Her Relationship With Kristen Stewart: ‘I’m Very, Very, Very in Love’

Stephanie “SoKo” Sokolinksi has opened up about her rumoured relationship with Kristen Stewart, in a recent interview with W Magazine, and it turns out she’s in love.

The 30-year-old French singer, who has opened for both M.I.A. and Foster the People, was discussing her new project, an X-rated zine she’s compiling that will be made up of the scores of sexually charged, NSFW direct messages sent to her over Instagram every day.

While discussing how she would phrase a DM to ask someone out on a date, Sokolinksi ended up dropping the L-word to describe her current relationship, which happens to be with Kristen Stewart.

I think if I was in the need of doing that right now, I would totally be able to come up with something. But I’m very, very, very in love and very happy in a relationship, so I don’t have that urge.”

The pair have not officially confirmed their relationship status, but they have been displaying plenty of PDA in LA and Paris over the past few weeks.

Sokolinksi has also referred to being in a long distance relationship, tweeting earlier this month that she spends “every minute of my days and nights loving her from afar.”

Even though she did admit to W that she has gone on a “totally successful date” with someone who contacted her over Instagram, Sokolinski said that isn’t how she met her current girlfriend. In fact, the Bordeaux native adorably noted the way they met “was very OG.”

Sokolinski has been very upfront about being bisexual in the past and said that she often gets DMs from both men and women.

I’ve always been open with my sexuality, meaning I don’t really care about gender. Sex for so long was such a taboo thing. You couldn’t be free with your sexuality and say that you like it. But it’s one of the biggest joys of life. If you find one partner who you love having sex with, it’s the best! This new generation is a lot more liquid with sexuality and it’s really refreshing.”

Should We Care: Photos Emerge Of Kristen Stewart Locking Lips With New Rumoured GF Paris

Since news broke last year, of Hollywood actress Kristen Stewart’s sapphic interest, the paparazzi have been going crazy to catch pictures of her with a woman.

Stewart – who is currently in Paris – has now been snapped engaging in a passionate kiss out on the streets of the city.

She was photographed locking lips with French singer and actress Stephanie Sokolinski – known better as Soko – yesterday. Photos of this intimate embrace emerged a day after they were seen taking a stroll together and holding hands in the French capital.

Stewart, who notoriously private about her love life, faced speculation about her previous relationship with Alicia Cargile and the two, were photographed cosying up together at Coachella music festival in April 2015.

In June 2015, Stewart’s mum, Jules Stewart, confirmed her daughter’s bisexuality and the alleged relationship with Cargile. However, she subsequently denied outing her daughter in a separate interview.

Since then, Stewart has been seen taking up a more active role in voicing out for the LGBTI community – in an interview with NYLON magazine in August last year, Stewart expressed that

A month later, she also spoke up against infamous Kentucky clerk Kim Davis, saying that she felt ‘really bad’ for the clerk who she perceives as being ‘closed off to things’ and fearful of the unknown.

Neither Kristen nor Soko has commented on their relationship as of press time, and to be honest they shouldn’t need too really.

Kristen Stewart Reportedly Joining James Franco In Transgender Biopic ‘JT Leroy’

Its being reported that Kristen Stewart is in talks to join James Franco in Hollywood-based transgender biopic JT Leroy.

Director Justin Kelly – who previously worked with Franco on 2015 movie I Am Michael – will take on the film from a script he wrote.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that as well as Stewart and Franco, Helena Bonham Carter will also appear in the movie.

The film will look at the story of JT Leroy, a writer who exploded onto the literary scene in 2000 with the novel Sarah; the story of a young boy, living a transient and deprived life, subsisting by turning truck-stop ‘tricks’ with his young mother.

The book, when released was accompanied by outlandish and arresting PR statements – the author was a ‘working boy’, who was advised to write by his psychiatrist; the manuscript was typed up by his clients, who came to him for domination.

Leroy’s media persona was reclusive and shy, although not shy enough to prevent him hob-nobbing with pop-culture icons like Winona Ryder and Carrie Fisher.

The book gained much critical praise, and Sarah was swiftly followed by The Heart is Deceitful Above All Things, which was identified even more closely with Leroy’s own upbringing. This book was even made into a film, and enjoyed good sales.

Again, the author was a distant figure, glimpsed fleetingly at awards ceremonies and rarely speaking in public.

However, rumours began to spread about Leroy’s true identity – before finally and definitively surfacing in the New York Times – the books were written by a woman, Laura Albert, and the public ‘Leroy’ was performed by Savannah Koop.

The myth was imploded; the film company and her publisher both severed connections, and threatened legal action. The press, which had lionised ‘him’, immediately turned.

It is said the new biopic will be based on memoir and life rights of Koop herself. LBI Entertainment, Aquarius and Franco’s Rabbit Bandini Productions are producing, while Aquarius is providing equity financing.

However, it’s looking like Franco is certain to star in the movie, while Stewart and Carter are currently in negotiations. A 2016 production date has already been proposed.

Stewart was most recently on our screens in Kelly Reichardt’s Certain Women, which premiered at Sundance.

Kristen Stewart New Movie ‘Certain Women’ Looks To Represent Women Differently

Kristen Stewart is currently at Sundance promoting her new film, Certain Women, by director Kelly Reichardt.

Thanks to impressive performances in films like Clouds of Sils Maria and Still Alice, the Stewart has finally broken free from her Twilight days, and is now showing off her acting prowess in a series of great — and feminist — movie roles.

Her latest film – based on short stories by Maile Meloy – follows three women’s (Stewart, Michelle Williams, Laura Dern) living in a small town in Montana. Stewart plays an overworked lawyer teaching a night class to newcomer Lily Gladstone’s lonely, longing student; Williams is one half of a couple in the midst of building a house; Dern takes on the role of a lawyer unwillingly tasked with talking a troubled client down from a hostage situation.

Their lives are incredibly different from one another, but, as Stewart explained on the red carpet, they’re all connected in one significant way.

It’s like every movie that’s overtly commercial needs to be about women overcoming something unbelievable, or it’s a love story. [Certain Women] tells three very different stories about working women, women who are not seeing everything in front of them, women who are making enormous misconnections and who are not top dogs, who are actually just trying to figure something out, who are all quite confused. And that’s more interesting than somebody, like, prevailing over some massive feat.”

She continued

All three stories involve somebody who is desirous of something that they can’t have. They’re fixated on something, but really what they’re actually concerned with is something very different… they’re just very particular people, they’re people who don’t see everything, they’re people you want to tap on the shoulder and say, you’re really missing the ball here.”

For Stewart, her role of Beth Travis, a distracted young woman who doesn’t understand the full extent of her student’s interest in her, was a stark departure from the typical parts for women in film.

I basically wanted to play somebody who is distracted and not seeing what was in front of her, because usually in movies, especially the young female protagonist, it’s like we need to lead you through the entire story very obviously. This was just about two lonely unobservant typical girls that just aren’t seeing each other quite clearly. I thought that was quite interesting.”

Stewart, said last year that she “made a conscious decision to avoid blockbusters and choose smaller projects that might attract less attention, but are going to satisfy me artistically.”

Oscars 2016: 5 of the Biggest Nomination Snubs

In just over a months’ time, the 88th Academy Awards (the 2016 Oscars) will take place. Hosted by comedian Chris Rock, the award show aims to heap praise on those who’ve done a brilliant job in filmmaking both in front of and behind the camera.

Earlier this week, the Oscars 2016 nominations were revealed and while there were some notable highlights (trans drama The Danish Girl landed multiple noms, as did Mad Max: Fury Road) there were also some notable snubs. Below is our list of the biggest snubs; feel free to leave yours in the comments!

1. Carol

Carol is quite possibly the best lesbian film ever made; most people who’ve seen it and critics, many of whom have featured Carol in their ‘best of the year’ lists, would agree.

So why, despite Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara getting nominations for their incredible performances in the film, was the film looked over elsewhere?

In a brilliant article on Autostraddle, Heather Hogan suggests that Carol was kept out of the Best Picture and Best Director categories because of misandry rather than lesbophobia. 76% of Oscar voters are men and as director Todd Haynes “refused to center on masculine experience” it stands to reason that the voters didn’t want to heap praise on the movie.

2. Tangerine

Tangerine is a film that stars two trans women (who are also sex workers) named Sin-Dee and Alexandra, telling the story of what happens when Sin-Dee finds out that her boyfriend (and pimp) has been cheating on her. Not only was it praised for casting two actual trans women to play trans characters (a rarity in films these days) but this indie flick was also shot on an iPhone.

With critics raving about the film, the team behind Tangerine decided to campaign for the Oscars, making it the first ever Oscars campaign for openly transgender actresses. A nomination was always a long shot but we’re still sad to see Tangerine and its cast miss out.

3. Clouds of Sils Maria (Kristen Stewart)

Less of a long shot was Clouds of Sils Maria. Released in the United States in April 2015, the drama starred Juliette Binoche as a middle-aged actress cast in a film with Chloe Moretz (who plays an up and coming actress in the film), while Kristen Stewart stars as the personal assistant Binoche’s character has some serious tension with.

With Stewart having scooped up a César (a French Oscar) for her role, in what some have called a ‘career-defining performance’ for the actress, many were surprised to see that Oscar voters overlooked her.

4. Grandma

Another film that everybody has been raving about is Grandma. Controversial for the fact that it centres on a grandmother and her granddaughter trying to find the funds for an abortion, critics loved the comedy-drama and said that Lily Tomlin was fantastic in it.

As a result, her Oscars 2016 snub was a shock though some have cited age (Tomlin is 76) and Hollywood’s bias against older women as a primary reason for the snub.

5. Any Actor of Colour

It is amazing (and not in a good way) just how staggeringly, blindingly and frankly uncomfortably white this year’s Oscars are. For the second year on the trot, every single acting nomination was given to white actors and actresses. Not even Will Smith (who offered a brilliant performance in Concussion) and Idris Elba (who delivered a dazzling performance in Beasts of No Nation) were nominated.

Michael B. Jordan was completely overlooked whereas his Creed costar Sylvester Stallone got a nomination and Straight Outta Compton was also ignored despite being a critical and box office smash.

The most recent figure (from 2012) suggests that Oscar voters are 94% white so again this isn’t surprising, but the fact that this has happened another year in a row, at a time when the Academy is reportedly trying to improve regarding diversity, makes this even worse.

Kristen Stewart Joins Jimmy Fallon For ‘The Whisper Challenge’ (Very Funny)

Kristen Stewart was on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon talking about her film Clouds of Sils Maria, for which she unexpectedly won a best supporting actress award at the César Awar.

She also took part in The Whisper Challenge, which resulted in Stewart swearing a lot on live television.

For those who haven’t seen the hysterical activity, Fallon and his guests take turns wearing noise-canceling headphones while the other reads any kind of signature phrase back to their partner for them to guess by reading their lips.

10 Famous Women Who Came Out in 2015

Last year, we brought you our top 10 list of out women who ‘totally rocked’ 2014, but this year we’re switching it up a bit as so many famous ladies found the courage to start living their truths (or 2015 was just the year that they spoke about their identities to the media) that we couldn’t help but celebrate!

Our hearts have swelled and we may have shed a few tears or so finding out that yes, celebrities are just like us. So without further ado, here’s our list of 10 famous women who came out during 2015.

1. Holland Taylor

If you’re up to date on queer media then you’ll probably know Holland Taylor as Peggy Peabody in The L Word or as Mrs. Petrie in D.E.B.S, but if you’ve spent any time on the Internet in the last few weeks then you’ll know her from the media’s headlines.

During an interview with WYNC’s Death, Sex and Money podcast, Taylor explained that “I haven’t come out because I am out, I live out” and that she’s in her ‘first-ever deeply committed relationship’.

Calling the relationship “the most wonderful extraordinary thing that could have ever possibly happened in my life”, Taylor didn’t reveal her partner’s identity during the podcast but following Internet speculation, it was soon confirmed that her girlfriend is the one and only Sarah Paulson.

2. Kristen Stewart

Kristen Stewart is best known to heterosexuals for her role as Bella Swan in the Twilight movie franchise but she’s (probably) best known to the rest of us as the woman of our dreams. Indeed, after photos of her out and about with her ‘gal pal’ Alicia Cargile began to do the rounds, many began to ask whether or not Kristen Stewart is actually not-heterosexual.

After her mother appeared to out her, confirming the relationship between the two women, the actresses interview with NYLON was published. In it, she explained that

I don’t feel like it would be true for me to be like, ‘I’m coming out!’ No, I do a job. Until I decide that I’m starting a foundation or that I have some perspective or opinion that other people should be receiving…I don’t.”

Moreover, she thinks that “in three or four years, there are going to be a whole lot more people who don’t think it’s necessary to figure out if you’re gay or straight. It’s like, just do your thing.”

3. Caitlyn Jenner

When it comes to the Kardashian/Jenner family, it’s usually Kim, Khloe, Kylie or Kendall making the headlines but in June, it was Caitlyn Jenner as she came out as a trans woman.

In a beautiful photoshoot and interview with Vanity Fair, the Olympian and reality TV star revealed her true gender identity.

Caitlyn has been a controversial figure amongst the transgender community ever since (her E! reality show suggests that she still has a lot to learn about the struggles of less-privileged trans people) and on The Ellen DeGeneres show she admitted to the talk show host that she’s still a bit wary when it comes to same-sex marriage but her coming out did spark a conversation and it encouraged many other people to come out too.

4. Ingrid Nilsen

If you don’t spend much time on YouTube then there’s a good chance that up until June of this year, you had no idea who Ingrid Nilsen was.

But, in an emotional, 19 minute video, the beauty and fashion vlogger revealed her struggle of being closeted and how much it meant to her to be able to tell those around her (and her almost 4 million subscribers) about her identity.

And, in a super cute turn of events, not long after Ingrid came out, she revealed that she’s dating (fellow YouTube superstar) Hannah Hart!

5. Jess Glynne

Holy My Hand, Not Letting Go, My Love, Rather Be, and Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself; these massively popular songs all reached number 1 in the UK and earned Jess Glynne a place in the record books as the British solo female with the most #1 singles (a record she shares with Cheryl Fernandez Versini). But as we were all dancing along, Jess revealed exactly what inspired all of the tracks.

Her debut album, I Cry When I Laugh, was inspired by her break up with her ex-girlfriend, though she told The Daily Star Sunday that “I’m never going to put a label on my sexuality and people should never feel uncomfortable about who they love”.

6. Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus is one controversial figure and her tabloid-featuring antics mean that some people loathe her rather than like her.

However, plenty of people supported her when the former Disney star came out as pansexual earlier this year and she also spoke about her gender identity too.

Speaking to Paper magazine, the singer and actress told the publication that “I don’t relate to being boy or girl, and I don’t have to have my partner relate to boy or girl”.

Note: Despite this being a list of ‘out famous women’, Miley Cyrus identifies as gender-fluid and not as a woman.

7. Ramona Bachmann

This year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup was a defining moment of 2015 for so many reasons.

Not only was it the most viewed women’s world cup in the tournament’s history and not only did it ignite a debate about sexism and equal treatment (due to the women being paid less than the men and having to play on astro-turf) but because many non-heterosexual football players would be playing too.

Joining Megan Rapinoe, Abby Wambach, Ali Krieger and several others was Swiss player Ramona Bachmann who actually came out at the world cup. She revealed that her girlfriend, Camille, was at the tournament supporting her and that they’d been together for almost a year.

8. Cara Delevingne

Supermodel and actress Cara Delevingne is no stranger to the LGBTQ community having made headlines last year when she attended a basketball game with her then-girlfriend Michelle Rodriguez, with the two of them being all over each other as they sat court-side.

But in Vogue she spoke openly about her sexuality, saying that she’s in love with her girlfriend Annie Clark (known by her stage name, St. Vincent) and that she could fall for anyone of any gender.

Unfortunately, the Vogue interview seemed to frame her sexuality as a phase and not long after, Delevingne clarified, saying “my sexuality is not a phase. I am who I am”

9. Patricia Velasquez

Model and actress Patricia Velasquez is credited as being the world’s first Latina supermodel and in 1994 she was also the first Venezuelan model to be part of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition. But what people didn’t know is that during that same decade – the 90s – Velasquez was also coming to terms with her identity as a gay woman.

In her memoir, Straight Walk: A Supermodel’s Journey to Finding Her Truth, she reveals that she first realised her sexuality after she fell for Sandra Bernhard and that

among the fashion world and fashion people, I always felt great because, you know, the fashion world is very open and I felt very welcome”.

10. Angel McCoughtry

Angel McCoughtry is one of the WNBA’s most talented players having helped the USA basketball team win Olympic gold and world championship gold, but earlier this year it wasn’t her basketball achievements that had everyone talking.

The sports web was abuzz as McCoughtry left Turkish club Fenerbahҫe (officially due to contractual disagreements) and came out on Instagram.

In an Instagram post with her fiancé, Brande Elise, the basketball star revealed that “yes we been discriminated against! We lost friends! Family members are upset! They said I disgraced my religion!” also claiming that Fenerbahҫe “threatened” her job if she didn’t post on social media saying that their relationship is a lie. Hardships aside, “one thing I do know”, wrote McCoughtry, “is that LOVE is a great feeling”

Could It Be? Kristen Stewart And Chloe Sevigny Set To Star In A Movie Together

Rumours has it, that two of our favourite actresses are set to star in a new film about the life Lizzie Borden.

Lizzie Borden was famously tried and eventually cleared of brutally killing her father and step-mother with an axe in 1892. No one else was ever charged.

According to report Kristen Stewart and Chloe Sevigny have signed on to the as-yet untitled psychological thriller, directed by Pieter Van Hees, with Sevigny taking on the part of Borden.

Reports suggest Stewart will play Bridget Sullivan, the Borden family’s live-in maid, who some believe was in a relationship with Lizzie.

Borden’s trial was the subject of much public interest and speculation long after her acquittal, and the deaths of her father and stepmother are remembered as one of the most mysterious murders of all time.

Van Hees’ version is the latest in a long list of film and TV adaptations, most recently starring Christina Ricci as Borden.

Kristen Stewart Bares All For Mario Testino

Kristen Stewart‘s latest photo shoot isn’t what you’d typically expect from the actress.

On Saturday, world-renowned photographer Mario Testino shared a stunning yet very naked photo of Kristen on Instagram.

The actress is the latest star to join Mario’s Towel Series, which includes celebrities like Kate Moss, Selena Gomez, and Blake Lively.

Testino describes the project as a liberating experience for the subjects.

I think guys and girls feel this freedom at being able to express themselves because there is no predetermined way of how they should put the towel on. You can do anything you want. Wear it however you want.”

The former Twilight star appeared to open up about her sexuality earlier this year, referencing tabloid stories by saying: “Google me, I’m not hiding.”

Kristen Stewart Says It’s Crazy That People Still Believe The LGBT Community Should Be Denied The Right To Love.

In a new interview with the Daily Beast, Kristen Stewart has spoke about Kentucky clerk Kim Davis, who was jailed for contempt of court after ignoring orders to let same-sex couples marry.

She said of Davis:

Oh my god… did you see her come out of jail? Honestly, it makes me so deeply uncomfortable. I feel really bad for her.

Anyone who’s so closed off to things that are so apparent? Imagine what else she’s missing out on in life.

I’m not making any grand statements about her personally, but if something so glaringly obvious… it’s like, ‘Oh, buddy, that must suck’.

That fear of the unknown cripples people, breeds hate, and it’s just very sad.”

This summer, the actress briefly opened up about her sexuality with Alicia Cargile, referencing tabloid stories by saying: “Google me, I’m not hiding.”

Stewart also said it is “crazy” that people still believe that the LGBT community should be denied the right to love.

She said:

Abso-f**king-lutely, it is crazy. It’s weird because if you’re overtly emotional about anything, people discredit what thought you might be contributing, because anything overtly emotional can be viewed as a weakness.

It’s interesting what you’re saying about how now we’re trying to suppress emotions or irregularities with drugs and deem people controllable by meds, because I think we’re more in tune and more honest with our emotions now than we have ever been.

You think about your grandparents or their grandparents, and you think about the patriarch of the family never showing emotion—with women, too.

As we’ve gotten past that, the meds have upped. It’s bizarre. The two things don’t really go together.”

Kristen Stewart Is Set To Play Coco Chanel In Upcoming Short Film From Karl Lagerfeld

Kristen Stewart is set to play Coco Chanel in an upcoming short film.

The film will be premiering on at the 12th annual Métiers d’Arts show in Rome on the 1st December and will be the third mini-film directed by Karl Lagerfeld.

In the film, Stewart will actually be playing an actress, playing Coco Chanel, whilst Geraldine Chaplin (daughter of Charlie) will be playing a middle-aged Coco directing K-Stew in a fictional biopic.

According to Karl Lagerfeld, Stewart’s take on the character of the young actress is apparently “very, very mean”, so we can’t wait to see just how K-Stew plays one of the most iconic women in fashion.

Stewart is certainly no stranger to the fashion house, frequently acting as a muse for the Chanel brand, appearing in a variety of campaigns, and regularly sitting in the front-row of their shows.

Most recently, she was seen gracing the catwalk alongside Julianne Moore in the label’s iconic Grand Palais casino Autumn 2015 couture show.

Lagerfeld’s films in the past have always been exceptionally beautiful.

Last year’s “Reincarnation” short film for the Paris-Salzburg Métiers d’Arts show featured Cara Delevingne and Pharrell Williams in a fairytale dream sequence, where Pharrell wrote an original song specifically for the film entitled ‘CC the World.’

Other previous short films “The Return” and “Once Upon a Time” featured Geraldine Chaplin and Keira Knightley respectively, in the role of Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel.

Unfortunately the film will be debuting behind closed doors at the prestigious, ticketed event, but luckily for us it will be shared online soon after.

In an interview with Nylon, Kristen Stewart has opened up about her sexuality.

She said:

Google me, I’m not hiding. If you feel like you really want to define yourself, and you have the ability to articulate those parameters and that in itself defines you, then do it. But I am an actress, man. I live in the f**king ambiguity of this life and I love it.”

However, Twilight actress, who was supposedly “outed” by her mum Jules in June, says that while she isn’t hiding, this is not a “coming out”.

She continued

Tabloid rumours have been circulating about Stewart for some time, with many printing invasive long-lens photo of her with rumoured girlfriends.

Stewart also discusses what she feels is the public’s perception of her.

It’s like I’m involved in a weekly comic book,” she says. “I have this assigned personality … which I helped create, I suppose. People stand to make a lot of money on people like me – it’s this booming industry, so why would you go and change the character that people are paying for?”

With so many awkward interviews happening, Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart wanted to make sure they didn’t miss out on all of the uncomfortable fun. So they decided to stage their own.

Ahead of the release of American Ultra, Eisenberg and Stewart filmed an awkward interview for Funny or Die in which the two stars asked each other questions.

Stewart says the studio thought “it would be fun” for the two actors to interview each other, thus commencing an extremely awkward exchange.

Eisenberg ask Stewart easy questions like…

How did you bulk up for this role? What are your favourite sports teams?”

However, the questions Eisenberg are asked are much different.

Are you seeing anyone? Are you pregnant? What about your boobs? Do they ever slip out accidentally? And is that ever funny or awkward? Or do you do that on purpose to get attention? Do you have a favourite boob?”

After receiving questions about fashion designers, dating, pregnancy and boobs, Eisenberg realises how much easier he has it during interviews, when he’s usually just asked if he used to be the class clown.

I’m not uncomfortable doing interviews. I just feel like a lot of the questions you’re asking me feel like they’re not about the movie.”

Eisenberg concludes the interview by deadpanning,

Now I know what it’s like to be a woman.”

Just For Show: Singer Claims Miley Cyrus And Other Bisexual Stars Out Themselves For The PR

Dutch singer, Loona has voiced her opinion on bisexual female celebrities. Saying she believes they out themselves as bi as PR stunts.

Talking on a German TV channel Punkt 12, the singer referred to Kristen Stewart, Miley Cyrus and Cara Delevingne.

On Cyrus’ relationship with Stella Maxwell, the singer doesn’t believe this honest.

Miley Cyrus is a girl only looking for publicity. So I don’t believe her; and it’s definitely a PR stunt.’

She went on to describe Stewart (who is apparently dating Alicia Cargile), as being ‘more of a masculine type’, and that she ‘could accept it [bisexuality] from her.’

British model Delevingne, who recently made her relationship to singer Annie Clark (aka St. Vincent) public, was the only one the Dutch singer believed to be honest about her sexuality.

She’s got a bit of this manly… she’s a tough girl. But at some point, in ten, fifteen years, she’ll have a nice man and some lovely children.’

So why is Loona such an ‘authority’ on such matters. Well the singer admitted to faking a same-sex relationship with a German model for PR purposes in 2013. That stunt got her a lot of attention and much needed PR to push her career in the right direction.
