Sia’s ‘The Greatest’ Video Pays Tribute To Orlando Shooting Victims

This week Sia surprised us, with the release of new track The Greatest, featuring Kendrick Lamar her favourite dancing muse Maddie Ziegler – though this time, she’s not alone.

The video, which opens to a black screen with the hashtag #WeAreYourChildren typed in white font, sees Ziegler accompanied by a large sum of dancers (49 in total), which is said to represent the 49 lives lost in the shooting at Orlando nightclub Pulse.

The video’s setting – a nightclub with bullet holes in the wall – along with Ziegler’s rainbow face paint, is also thought to in memory of those lost their lives in the horrific act.

Following its release, one of the video’s dancers, Matt Moseley, posted a screen grab to Instagram with the caption “49 beautiful lives lost. This is for you. #WeAreYourChildren.”

Others have since taken to Twitter, using the hashtag to aggregate thoughts on the video and its emotional context.

The video concludes with the young dancers moving and shaking in what vaguely represents a nightclub setting, before all falling to the ground, which in turn exposes the bullet-pierced wall behind them. No one from Sia’s team has yet confirmed or revealed the meaning behind the video.

Sia Debuts ‘Finding Dory’ Theme Song On The Ellen Show

Apparently, SIA was personally asked by Ellen DeGeneres to cover and perform the theme tune for Finding Dory.

rs_600x600-160520083315-600.Sia-Finding-Dory-FB-052016

The song used for the highly-anticipated film is Nat King Cole’s Unforgettable. Ellen – the voice of Dory – asked the singer to do the cover

Finding Dory is set six months after the events of Finding Nemo, but this time the story will mostly take place at the Marine Biology Institute of California, where Dory was born. She lives with Nemo and his dad Marlin in a coral reef in the ocean.

When she and her friend go on a field trip to the institute, she recalls memories of her past and family—basically, that she has both—and seeks to find her parents, Jenny and Charlie, portrayed by Diane Keaton and Eugene Levy.

Dory was such a hit with fans that a spin-off film just focusing on Dory will hit in July.

Sia was on the show to perform her version of the classic song (and it’s amazing).

Sia Shares New Song Co-Written With Adele And Tobias Jesso Jr (Listen)

Sia has just released a new track, and now our week is complete.

Alive is the new single off her new album This is Acting, and it is the kind of song you’ll listen to for days on end on repeat.

It was initially intended for Adele (Sia wrote it with Adele and Tobias Jesso). However, Adele passed at the last minute, but it’s still about Adele even if it’s now Sia’s lead single.

On the track Sia said.

It’s about [Adele’s] life, so I now sing a song from [Adele’s] perspective,”

This is the cool thing about Sia’s new album: All the songs were written for other artists.

Most of the songs, if not all of them, I wrote for other people and they were rejected. Generally, they’re songs that aren’t from my perspective, so it feels like acting. I have rejects from Rihanna, Shakira, Beyoncé [Knowles], Demi Lovato, all the good girls, [and] Katy [Perry]. I appreciate my music is famous, but I’d rather my face wasn’t so that I can just live a normal life. If I can’t, then I guess, maybe, I would end up just giving up and show my face.”

Sia is responsible for some of this past decade’s biggest pop hits, having written songs for Beyoncé, Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Maroon 5 and Kylie Minogue. She also wrote Rihanna’s No 1 hit from 2012, Diamonds.

And the fact Adele passed on this is interesting, as she really could have released this as a single no problem, so it makes us think if she passed on this, whatever is on her album is incredible.

Listen to “Alive” (probably over and over) below.

It’s always a blast. It’s nice to be in a room of like-minded people. That sounds very elitist, but it’s really very inclusive. It’s a great crowd, and it’s a room filled with people I admire.”

Following Silverman’s standup, Sia took the stage wearing her signature face-obscuring wig, which she removed following her three-song set to thank the audience.

“It was only until I started to be myself that the music started to flow and people started to listen. Just a quick one, I want to thank the man who this record is about who I fell in love with last year. Thank you so much for breaking my heart, because you got me four Grammys.”

Sam Smith

The evening included memorable numbers from LGBT artists including Sam Smith teaming with Mary J. Blige, Brandy Clark collaborating with Dwight Yoakam, Lady Gaga with Tony Bennett, and Sia. Shia LaBeouf Stars in Sia’s New Music Video ‘Elastic Heart’ Alongside ‘Chandelier’ Dancer Maddie Ziegler

Cage fighting interpretive dancing between Shia LaBeouf and Maddie Ziegler – need we say more. Well, apart from the fact the lyrics and vocals are amazing as always from camera-shy singer Sia.

In her latest video, Sia enlisted Shia LaBeouf and ‘Dance Moms’ star Maddie Ziegler to perform in ‘Elastic Heart’. The singer directed this five-minute film with Daniel Askill, who also helmed her ‘Chandelier’ and ‘Breathe Me’ videos.

In the video, Shia is smeared with dirt and wears nude-coloured boxers, while standing opposite the 12-year-old reality star Maddie Ziegler in what would seem to be a giant birdcage. The duo then working through some interpretive dance routines until Maddie breaks free.

Maddie also starred in Sia’s clip for ‘Chandelier’, so ‘Elastic Heart’ is a sequel, of sorts.

Sia to Work with Eminem on New Song Dispute Him Using Anti-Gay Lyrics

Bisexual Australian singer Sia will work with Eminem on new song, even after he used anti-gay slur.

Guts Over Fear, which is the soundtrack to Denzel Washington’s upcoming movie The Equalizer, is the duo’s second single following Beautiful Pain, which appeared on the rapper’s 2013 album The Marshall Mathers LP 2.

Last year, people were furious over the lyrics for ‘Rap God’. Eminem raps that he will ‘break a m0ther f*cker’s table over the back of a couple of faggots and crack it in half’, and ‘you fags think it’s all a game till I walk a flock of glames off a plank’.

Sia, who is openly bisexual, defended Eminem, saying:

‘I know personally that he is not homophobic, but a performance artist. I would never work with someone I believed to be homophobic. He has a character called Slim Shady who represents the worst and darkest bile of America. I see how it can be unclear. But I assure you he is not homophobic himself. He does certainly respect the gay community he is close to in his personal life.’

Sia

However after New York based DJ and writer Keo Nozari called Sia out over her appearance on the album, she announced she would donate the proceeds from her collaboration to the Los Angeles Gay And Lesbian Center.

‘I guess my only hope at this point is that Beautiful Pain will do more good than Rap God does harm. I feel powerless. I thought Slim Shady had been put to bed. Now what’s done is done on my end.’

Sia

Eminem has said his use of the words is not directed at gay people and part of his Slim Shady persona, telling Rolling Stone:

‘The real me sitting here right now talking to you has no issues with gay, straight, transgender, at all.’
